ChemistryAmerican Chemical SocietyThe CINF group had a lot of sessions around data management, funder mandates, compliance, and best practices/open science in chemistry. Was nice to see as chemists have traditionally been fairly conservative in their approach to open

Primary CareNAPCRG 2015
I attended a workshop discussing impact measures (e.g., impact factor, z-score) for biomedical publications in primary care. They described how these measures change the way researchers choose journals for publishing articles, sometimes choosing journals considered more 'presitgious' rather than journals more specific to their area of interest. The workshop leaders mentioned altmetrics and how these may play a role in the future. Generally, they posed the question "is there a better system for measuring impact?". No specific solutions were provided.

OD4LSOpen Data for Local Search, OD4LS Workshop, in conjunction with WWW2016Available open data can be exploited to dramatically improve the design of local search engines and their contents. The purpose of this workshop is to explore new fields of investigation both in terms of algorithmic approaches as well as originality of usable data. The workshop focuses on how open data can be used to enhance the capabilities of local search engines.http://od4ls.uqam.ca/Marie-Jean Meurs
