Tenderloin Outpatient Clinic, Hyde Street Community Services, Inc.
San FranciscoHana Tylova-Steinhana.tylovastein@hscssf.org
The Hyde Street Community Services serves racially and culturally diverse adult populations, struggling with complex trauma and severe Axis I and II disorders that are often complicated by substance use, other co-morbid conditions, homelessness, low socio-economic status, structural racism and involvement with the criminal justice system.
With an emphasis on developing assessment and diagnostic skills, students will conduct one full biopsychosocial assessment per week. Students will provide individual therapy to a primary caseload of 7-9 clients, co-facilitate one therapy group, and maintain documentation according to state and local standards. Students will have an opportunity to become familiar with available resources and to collaborate with other community agencies to address the case management needs of clients.
Outpatient therapy team
The training/supervision philosophy centers on wellness and recovery for the underserved in the community. We support trainees to provide integrated mental health, substance abuse and primary care treatment services geared towards stabilizing clients' intrapsychic, interpersonal, and environmental problems. These services include medication support, cognitive and social assessment, individual and group therapy, case management and brokerage toward linkage with community housing, economic, vocational/volunteer, and primary care services.

Students will administer neuropsychological assessments and clinical/semi-structured interviews under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

Annual study visits include comprehensive neuropsychological testing and clinical interviews as well as MRI scans. Please visit our website at https://med.stanford.edu/bgapstudy.html for more information.

Students involved with our project will gain experience in the following key areas:

SKIPS offers in depth training on how to be an effective and empowering clinician who can bring the best out of people. Through a series of conversation maps and practices, this collaborative work ignites children's intrinsic motivation to improve their behaviors and heightens their self-confidence in their abilities to do so. This work is based on an integration of narrative therapy, positive psychology, neurobiology and mindfulness, and has been gaining popularity in Bay Area schools. SKIPS has been growing exponentially the last few years, and I am constantly looking to add more practicum trainees into our team. The clinical work is in person, the training and supervision is through Telehealth.
