FINDINGS:

HPS completed a national price study of an outpatient cataract surgery (CPT 66984)among 1,990 hospitals

and 1,840 ambulatory surgery centers throughout the U.S. Surprisingly, the the average hospital price for this cataract surgery

was less in nearly 60% of the states (29 out of 49 states - Maryland and District of Columbia not included).
