Youth Climate Institute (YCI) / Green TeamAnecia TongueWednesdayWe meet every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month.RM 124anecia.tongue@pgcps.orgThe Youth Climate Institute (YCI) educates and certifies the next generation of leaders on climate science, environmental justice and real world solutions. YCI students apply their knowledge and passion to take action through community action projects. Chapters identify, plan and implement a solution to a local climate change issue. Student voices lead the direction of the project. Local chapters have taken on a diverse array of projects including tree planting, an “Urgency” art contest, fast fashion clothing swaps and more. After students complete their first year of YCI, students earn the title of Certified Ambassadors©. These YCI student leaders can choose to complete an optional second year with a self-guided capstone project. Students work with one or two other Certified Ambassadors© and a local mentor to tackle a climate issue of their choice.

HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to affiliate and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, middle school, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. HOSA is 100% health care.

Students from all dance classes are able to work together in this space. Students not registered for dance can also audition for the Dance Company. Our goal is to give multiple students the opportunity to achieve their full potential and shine. The company will represent the school at the Prince George's County Dance Showcase, a performance at the National High School Dance Festival, and the Maryland Dance Alliance Showcase. The performance company also incorporates the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) which provides scholarship and educational opportunities for the students, in addition to community service experiences. The dance company will continue to offer a tap dance program on Thursdays open to anyone interested in participating.

Our mission is to provide a collaborative space where students can master design skills, explore textile work, and engage in meaningful self-expression. As a debut proof of concept, we launched a project to create a large-scale banner made entirely from recycled denim—a feat of student-led design, organization, and teamwork. By displaying this banner at the front of the school, we aim to provide a visual tribute to Bowie’s identity and prosperity, highlighting the capacity of our students to lead, innovate, and build a creative legacy for the future.<br>
