1. This scoring sheet has six tabs. You are viewing the Master tab containing the totals from the other tabs. When you change the numbers in the other tabs they will update here. The numbers inserted are placeholders so you can see how the scoring works.
19
2. The five other tabs are Product, Market, Team, Strategy and Economics. These are the five dimensions most startups are measured on. Feel free to change the names of the dimensions to suit your purposes.
20
3. Each dimension has 10 criteria by which a startup can be scored on. Feel free to modify the criteria to suit your purposes. Each dimension should have 10 criteria for this score sheet to work properly.
21
4. Score each criteria on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being poor and 10 being very strong. Try to avoid giving scores of 5 and 6. They are fudge numbers. The numbers inserted are placeholders. Change them to reflect how you think the startup scores on each criteria. Add notes on your rationale for the score you gave.
22
5. In all, you will rate 50 data points on the startup and the total score on a scale of 1 to 10 will be reflected here on the Master tab.
23
6. You can change the weights of each dimension based on how important it is to the company's stage or to your investment objectives. For example, you can weigh the team dimension 30% of the total score and the strategys 10% of the total score. The weights for all five should add up to 100% for this score sheet to work properly.
24
7. The Dimension Alignment Chart visually presents how you scored each dimension. The more in alignment each dimension is and the higher they are, the better the opportunity. In any case, you will see the areas the startup needs improvement to attract funding from angels and VCs.
