Amber Gray’s final performance in Hadestown. She got a minute-long standing ovation before the show even started. You can hear Reeve getting choked up during his toast in Livin It Up On Top, and Amber herself getting teary multiple times as well. Lots of applause/cheering/whistling/standing ovations for Amber. You can also hear the audience doing the call and response during Our Lady of The Underground, including the master (you can also probably hear him crying at times as well). Also includes a video of Bows, We Raise Our Cups, and a speech that Rachel Chavkin comes up to give, and also the cast leaving stage while the band plays the exit music - a spotlight shone on Amber for a few extra seconds at the end! The curtain call video is a little bit shaky, at times dropping out for a few seconds to accidentally pan to the floor or ceiling, but most of the important stuff with Amber is captured. Sold out performance!

A near perfect capture and the first known DVD of this show’s Off-Broadway run. Barrett is incredibly talented: amazing vocals, acting and comedic timing. Dan and Charissa are both fantastic in their roles as well. The show is absolutely hysterical, much improved from the movie version. The first minute of Act One is blacked out, but the show is otherwise fully intact with no blackouts and only slight washout in a few wide shots. There is no obstruction, the video is steady, the sound is excellent, and it’s captured very well with the usual mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. It’s filmed in 16:9 and includes curtain call, encore, and playbill scans.

Good 4K capture of this cast! The filming is quite rough at points, usually too wideshot or poorly framed. Some head obstruction on both sides, though primarily on the left, that blocks some action but is typically worked around well. Increased wandering / readjustment and unfocusing throughout. About ten minutes from the end of Act One, there was a show stop, and the rest of the act afterwards has more obstruction due to latecomers. Includes curtain call, audio is fed from external source.

Perfect video of this incredible cast. Steve tears the house down as Javert and is near perfect in the role. The video has very little washout and the colors are very pretty. There is some grain when its very dark but its not distracting. Some shakiness throughout.

Act 1 has minor flickering or rolling bars during some scenes due to lighting mismatch with camera settings, which was fixed prior to Act 2. Otherwise a pretty good capture of the show. A perfect capture of the West End transfer. The cast have only gotten better since the Donmar run. Filmed head on instead of from the side, like my previous capture, so you can see the actor’s expression clearly and get a clear view of the set and staging. A must have capture for fans of the show and this production. Recording includes the curtain call and marquee.

Fantastic capture of this incredible West End transfer. Shot in a beautiful mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. More wides than usual to catch the simply amazing staging and blocking. Some increased wandering, shaking, and re-adjusting throughout, as well as my backpack occasionally blocking the very bottom of the stage, but nothing is missed. The overhang cuts off the very top of the set and occasionally obscures faces when they're far back in the top rooms. Some non-disruptive rustling heard throughout. Truly an excellent capture of this excellent show. (Trader note: starts about a minute into the first act.)
