If you aren't afraid of buying extra parts, you can buy a pair of low profile Accelero Xtreme GTX 280 ramsinks from the AC webstore for a couple of dollars, under Spare Parts->VGA Cooler.|
You can get extra regular ramsinks and VRM sinks for cheap as well.
|21/06/2010 06:27:50||j0n3z3y||MSI||No||HD5770||Artic Accellero S1 Rev. 2||Yes (Did Not Fit)||Card: R5770 Hawk GPU spacers for the mounting bracket are too tall (1mm) for the R5770 (and probably other 5770's as well). |
Instead of trimming the factory spacers. I made some out of 1/8" silicone tubing allowing compression of the spacers for a firm heatsink base to gpu interface.
The mounting bracket also requires trimming to avoid contact (and shorting out) several SMT components. Most notably a large SMT capactitor on the lower right side (in reference to the PCI-E slot).
For use of the VRM heatsinks, the GPU VRM's must be cut in half for proper fitment. The ram VRM heatsinks must have two fins removed to make contact and avoid touching other components.
