Our East Durham Food Co-op is owned and run by community members. For $5/month members have access to $300-$500 of fresh, healthy, locally grown food as well as community, educational, and advocacy programming. We are currently hosting the Food Co-op every other Thursday and have various packing and set up days. To volunteer, contact us at the form on our website. xx

The program is managed by DURO; One or two ERUUFians sign up to pack the bags each week on Wed or Thurs during the school year.xxx

Meals on Wheels delivers a nutritious meal, a safety check, and a smile that serves as a lifeline to almost 600 Durham County homebound residents. Our greatest need is for delivery drivers. We also need loaders, unloaders, and expediters (in person) and wellness callers (from anywhere!). Volunteers usually commit to helping weekly or at least once a month. Urban Ministries of Durham welcomes more than 6,000 people each year seeking food, shelter, clothing and supportive services. Our programs help prevent homelessness, assist those who are homeless, foster collaboration with community partners, and offer support with dignity and compassion to neighbors in need. 95%+ clients are people of color, including newly arrived immigrants.1) Prepare and serve weekend meals for 400+, as group of 5-8 or will place individuals on teams
2) Help re-open Food and Clothing Pantries: stock shelves, sort and prep clothing, help families select items.
NOTE: Must be 14 or older to work in UMD kitchen.
3) Prepare casseroles and cookies at home for delivery to UMD
