I have experience in coaching contest screenwriters, writing producer coverage, proofreading, and story tutoring. My primary goal is to help new writers tell their unique story in the most powerful way possible. I have advanced formal training in all areas of screenwriting and work from a vast library of screenwriting resources.
On RequestOn Request
I am a graduate and the first ever student of Hollywood Screenreaders and now do script reading and coaching through my screenwriting studio Screenplay Academy. For more short-term reading services, my service Contest Xpress is available on either the website or Fiverr. My contract work includes working as a proofreader for Grammarly and as a test reader for the AI-based script feedback service Zoodiker. I am a five-year veteran story analyst for a major screenwriting competition and I read in all genres, including drama, comedy, action, adventure, thriller, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. I have a Master of Advanced Studies degree in American Media and Popular Culture, with a focus on film & television writing and story analysis. Before attending film school, I was an instructor and Head of Reference at the University of Colorado-Boulder Law School, where I specialized in teaching law with film. Previously, I was a movie theater projectionist, film booker, movie reviewer, and video store manager. I am also a screenwriter, short film director, and an occasional movie extra. As a lifelong film buff and movie fan, I have a strong passion for helping others bring their cinematic vision to life on the page.

I have a huge sports background- I was a Division 1 student athlete in college. My sport was softball. My brother and father also played D1 football and my father played in the NFL, so athletes and the world of sports is something I understand. I was a Christian missionary for 6 years and am very familiar with church culture, religious ideology and deconstruction, especially in the area of sexuality and Purity culture. The mission field also allowed me to see how most of the world lives, experience different cultures, and the struggles of impoverished peoples to provide for themselves and their families. I am an artist, freelance painter and scenic artist, so the creative process is familiar to me. I come from a mixed background with my father being African American and my mother Mexican American. This gives me a unique perspective on the current racial tensions, the American dream etc. I am a huge fan of YA, fantasy, mysteries and historical drama, but will read for any genre except erotica or anything that borders that genre.
On RequestOn Request
Any, especially YA, Fantasy, Mystery, Historical Drama. No Erotica or explicit content.

I started teaching Screenwriting 101 in 2019. Since all of my consulting is for my students, I focus solely on the basics (structure of plot, story, characters). Because without a solid foundation, even the best of concepts won't stand. I have a very strict no judgement policy, I keep my personal opinions to myself and focus on the nuts and bolts of the script itself. The class motto is: Dream Big, Write Bigger!
On RequestOn Request
I write rom-com's and horror and have placed in and won several screenwriting competitions. Having said that, I don't limit my students to a genre and I'm open to reading them all.
