Prepare, create the "meals in a bag" at Holy Trinity-Lakeview's kitchen and deliver to the youth outreach team (YOT) where you will set-up, hand out the "meals in a bag" to the homeless clients that the YOT serve. Following we go back to the church to clean-up. It is an extremely fulfilling and interactive serving experience!

We arrive at Holy Trinity-Lakeview at 7pm to start preparations to create the "meals in a bag" and then need to be at YOT location, near Belmont and Halsted at 8:30pm to assist in setting up tables and prepare to serve the "meals in a bag" to the clients that are waiting to receive the food. When arriving to the church to help with the meal, ring the church doorbell at the side entrance (3609 N. Magnolia) so that other volunteers may come down and open the door for you.

If this is your first time volunteering for the YOT - no worries! Someone will always be a part of the volunteer team who has helped prepare and serve the "meal in a bag" before, so you will be guided as to what needs to be done to help out. If you have any questions about the YOT and our volunteering experience, please reach out to Ken Duckmann and he will be glad to assist.

The Youth Outreach Team is run by The Night Ministry of Chicago and located near the intersection of Belmont and Halsted, just south and east from Holy Trinity at Lakeview Lutheran Church. Twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays the YOT is available to homeless youth and adults in the Lakeview area who seek food and most importantly needed community help. We prepare 150 "meal in a bag" to serve to the clients that rely upon the YOT for assistance and support. Our team, from Holy Trinity, buys the groceries, makes the meal, and then takes it to the YOT location. It is an interactive and rewarding experience!
