         HELP SESSIONS

  OBJECTIVE

The objective of our Help Sessions is to assist you on whatever topic or problem you want to discuss. We try to pair a volunteer with each attendee to provide individual, personalized assistance.  Due to variations in volunteer availability and space limitations, we must limit the number of attendees (or spouse pairs) to six, so please be sure to sign up in advance.  Bring your devices with you so we can help you work with your own equipment.

  IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT OUR HELP SESSIONS

Our Monday afternoon Help Sessions have been one of our most popular services and we have attempted to make them more effective for you our clients as well as for our volunteer instructors. We have had problems on occasion matching clients with instructors, both from the standpoint of having enough instructors available (or too many) and having instructors with the appropriate talents to help you.

To improve our service, we made some changes awhile back in how the Help Sessions are conducted. Here’s a summary of how the sessions are intended to work now:

1.  We ask that you sign up in advance and provide your name, phone number and e-mail address (if you have one).  We also ask you to list the device(s) you will want to work with and a description of the topic(s) or issue(s) you will want to work on. Also, please sign up as much in advance as possible but in any case PLEASE sign up no later than 9:00 AM on the Friday prior to the session. Late sign-ups after that are difficult to fill and we might not be able to find someone to help you.

2.  You can sign up online using this webpage or call the Senior Center (at 970-668-2940).

3.  Once we have the details of your needs, we’ll try to assign an appropriate instructor to work with you in the session (please realize that this may not always be possible depending on our availability). We’ll try to post the instructor's name, phone number and e-mail address on the online signup page opposite your request (but if you don't see that it doesn't mean we won't try to help you).

4.  If we're sure that we won't be able to help you, we will try to call you by noon on Monday to let you know.  If this is the case, we hope you’ll let us try to fill your need in the next Help Session.

5.  IMPORTANT: our instructors alter their personal schedules to work with you so if you decide to cancel, please do them the courtesy of removing your name from the sign-up list (or calling the Senior Center to cancel) as soon as possible.

  HOW TO SIGN UP FOR A HELP SESSION

It's easy - you just need to get used to "tabbed" sheets and select the tab for the Help Session you wish to sign up for.  Notice the tabs at the very bottom of this page - they're entitled "Signup for a Class", "Help Sessions" (the tab you're reading right now), "HS - Feb 3", etc.  Here's a graphic of the tabs (with the tab entitled "HS - Feb 3" selected - this is the tab you would use to sign up for our Help Session on February 3):

Once you've selected the tab for the Help Session you want to attend, just click on the cells and provide the information asked for.  If all six of the available slots are already filled in, that Help Session is fully booked.  If so, please try to sign up for another one.

   - You must sign up for a Help Session by the Friday prior to the session and you must provide a phone number where we can reach you in case we need to discuss your needs in advance.

   - Please provide as much information as you can about the device or devices you want to work with and what topics or issues you want to work on.

   - We will try to match an instructor to your specific needs to meet with you in the Monday session. If we are successful, that instructors name will appear above opposite your name.

   - If we are not able to match an instructor with you for the Monday session, we will contact you to let you know by noon of the Monday.

   - At any time, you can come back to this page to see if an instructor has been matched with you for the session.
