ARP ESSER III Grant

Available $113,209

One half of a teaching position for two years to reduce class sizes and to allow for extra

intervention time for students during the school day to help struggling students make up for

for time lost to covid and remote learning.

An aide to provide after school tutoring to help our student make up for time lost to covid.

Salaries for summer school teachers for the summer of 2021 and for the summer of 2022. This will

greatly expand the summer offerings and help more students try to catch up with their peers.

A paraprofessional will be employed to help provide summer interventions.

Grant funds will be used to pay for the benefits for the half teaching position added with grant funds.

Grant funds will be used to pay for the benefits for summer school teachers.

Thirty IPad and IPad cases will be purchased with grant funds. During remote learning our inventory

of IPad was severely stressed. Our younger students use IPad instead of chromebooks. These will

replace those that were over used and allow us to be ready for any future remote learning.

The Second Step social emotional learning and anti-bullying curriculum will be purchased. Our

students were severely stressed the uncertainties of covid and remote learning. They are in need of

social and emotional support. This curriculum will be used by all of our teachers.

Rutland Grade School does not have their own school nurse. We rely on purchasing time from a nearby

school district. Grant funds will be used to pay for nurse services for planning and for contact tracing.

Grant funds will be used to pay for nurse supplies and cleaning supplies. This will include hand and

surface sanitizers and masks.

Grant funds will be used to pay for extra custodian time for extra surface cleaning in common areas and

for extra cleaning during our expanded lunch schedule.

Five old bathrooms have nonfunctioning exhaust fans. Grant funds will be used to replace them

and increase the ventilation of the bathrooms and the amount of fresh air entering the building.

Grant funds will be used to pay for classroom furniture and for lunch tables to allow more appropriate

spacing of students.

This plan was originally presented to the public and our staff as a draft at our regular December 2021 school board meeting.

Input from all stakeholders was encouraged at that time. The plan was reviewed for our staff at their regular staff meeting the first

Tuesday in January and specifically to our special education and student services department during their regular

meeting the next Tuesday. It was also presented at our January parents Club meeting. The plan was shared in December and

early January via social media with our school community. Input was encouraged at all presentations and every step

of the way. The final plan was approved by the school board at their regular January meeting.

Student academic progress will be monitored through our regular RTI progress monitoring. All students are benchmark

tested three times per year to look for other students in need of further intervention.

The successfulness of our social/emotional learning curriculum will be evaluated by our SEL Committee monthly based

Progress and adjustments to the plan are reviewed monthly at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Rutland CCSD 230 School Board

and at the month meetings of the staff of Rutland Grade School.
