US history- beginnings, through Civil War. The whole course can utilize geographical information. I work with over 100 advanced 8th graders and we are Geographically illiterate. Start with an exploration of the North vs the South...climate of the regions, rivers used for transportation in the south and energy in the north...etc. growth of Slavery vs Industry...etc.

I am new to teaching geography. I am in the beginning stages of learning how to use the GIS software. I seeking help in understanding how to use this technology effectively with 6th grade students, how to access and use available data bases to populate maps with data, and how to create my own data files with which to populate maps.

I am teaching AP Human Geography for the first time this year and this tech is way out of my wheelhouse - so I am looking for first steps. email is best during summer
I have not used ArcGIS online, and would like to learn how. Subsequently, I would like to incorporate it into my teaching of AP Env Sci, and am particularly interested in having my students use ArcGIS as a hands-on tool for lab activities. I do not have any specific labs in mind; I could use some suggestions. I don't need any help with matching activities to various curriculum standards, and I would like to spend some time "playing" with ArcGIS over the summer. I would most likely be doing this mainly in August. Thanks for your help!
