Mondays, 6:00-7:45pmBeta FundamentalsYuta Kato- Fundamentals of the Beta Style (drum is placed vertically, hitting surface is parallel to the floor)
- The core and most basic style of taiko.
- We will cover everything from stance, grip, the strike, and all the building blocks necessary for you to use your body in the best way for efficiency and sustainability.

Tuesdays, 6:00-7:45pmMulti-style FundamentalsDavid Wells- Try out and practice the most common styles of taiko taught at LATI!
- Course will cover Beta (upright), Naname (slanted), Small Drum, and Odaiko (large drum) styles
- We'll focus on fun and engaging exercises to build technique with each individual style

Tuesdays, 8:00-9:45pmBeta + Odaiko FundamentalsYuta Kato- Fundamentals of the Beta Style (drum surface parallel to the floor) and Odaiko (drum surface is perpendicular to the floor).
- This course is designed to understand the correlations between the two iconic styles of taiko, and by doing so, enhancing your playing for each of the styles.

Wednesdays, 6:00pm - 7:45pmNaname FundamentalsFred Visaya- Learn naname-style fundamentals such as holding bachi, stance and striking the taiko
- Learn parts of 'Aruhi' - an original Puna Taiko piece played on naname-style!

Wednesdays, 6:00-7:45pmGroove!Masa Miyano- A course that focuses on one of the most important element to Kumidaiko (“ensemble drumming”), listening.
- Students will learn a different set of rhythms each week, challenging themselves with varying kumidaiko arrangements and to improve musical interdependence.

Wednesdays, 8:00-9:45pmOdaiko + Shime FundamentalsMasa Miyano- Entry-level course that focuses on the varying techniques and body awareness necessary to produce the deep low-pitched sound of the Odaiko (“large taiko”) and the sharp high-pitched sound of the Shime Daiko (“tightened taiko”).

Wednesdays, 8:00pm - 9:45pmMo Bettah BetaFred Visaya- Refine your beta-style fundamentals to achieve a powerful and 'explosive' taiko style!
- Learn advanced skills and techniques for better taiko sound
- Apply the basics to various drills and pieces such as 'Agari Yatai' by Amanojaku

Saturdays, 12:00-1:45pmHachijo FundamentalsMasa Miyano- A powerful and graceful style that originates from Hachijo Island of Japan, Hachijo Daiko is a strictly improvisational style of taiko played by only two people: the soloist and the base-beat player.
- Students will learn the fundamentals and will be guided through drills and exercises designed to help increase confidence in expressing oneself.

Saturdays, 2:00-3:45pmUse the ForceManMan Mui- "Ki" 氣 refers to the energy of the performer and is the force that affects your stance, posture, alignment, strike, timing, and the sound you create from the drum.
- This course explores the “ki” as a force from within your body, by delving into various drills and exercises that focus on breathing, body coordination and beyond.
- Enhance your fluidity of movement and core muscle connection so you can strike like a Jedi. May the force be with you.
