Athas Journey Planner

9
WHAT IS THIS?This spreadsheet will help you to track Supplies on your Journey, using mainly 5e rules.
10
11
HOW IT WORKS?You need to include the information of your Party, your existing Supplies and the Journey you have planned. The spreadsheet will calculate how long those Supplies will last.
Take into account that the information is dependent on other selections, so you can only select a Mount for a Traveller if you already have included it in their own section. And similar things are requireed for pullying beasts, Vechicles, etc.
12
13
CAN YOU BE A BIT MORE SPECIFIC?Yes, I'll try. Go to the LOGISTICS page and include the following information:
14
1. -For each PC (Traveller), include his NAME, ANCESTRY (from a closed list), TRAVELLER'S STRENGHT SCORE, and BASE SPEED (in feet; only if it's different from their Ancestry speed).
15
16
2. -If the party includes any Mounts or Pullying beasts, include their NAME and TYPE (from a closed list). You can also indicate if the mount includes a HOWDA (select a type, if available) or is pullying a VEHICLE (select an already included vehicle).
17
18
3.- If the party includes any Vehicle, include it's NAME and TYPE. If it isn't a self-propelled vehicle, it will need some pullying beasts. More than one beast can pull from the same Vehicle, however, all beasts need to be of the same type.
19
20
4.-If the party is carrying any Food, Fodder and/or Water Units, they need to be inside a Container. Each type of Container can only store a type of Unit. Containers have a maximum Capacity and have some Weight even when empty.
21
22
Now, go to the JOURNEY page and include the following information:
23
24
1. -Select your charted journey starting point (froma a closed list). Then select each following Stage of your planned journey from the options available (up to 10).
25
26
2. -If the party feels adventorous and want to travel outside the beaten paths, the can do it by including the information on the JOURNEY, UNCHARTED section. You need to include a STAGE (up to 5), the main TERRAIN CROSSED and how many MILES are expected. If there's is a ROAD, you can also indicate it.
27
28
3.-Indicate the number of supplies your party is carrying. Remember that each supply unit mustt be inside a Container.
29
30
31
RESULTSFor each Stage you will get a list of the terrains you are crossing, the distance to the next stage and how many days it will take you, based on your Pace. You also get a list of Food, Fodder and Water Units needed to cover that Stage.
32
33
WARNINGSThe WARNINGS section shows some specific messages when the spreadsheet detects inconsistencies: Containers not assigne to a Traveller/Mount/Vehicle, Vehicles without Pullying Beasts, excees of load of a Traveller/Mount/Vehicle, etc.
There are also some Warning messages scattered in the different fields. When there is an inconsistency, the field is filled red with white text.
34
35
HOW DOES 'X' WORKS?
36
37
SpeedSpeed is usually mesured in mph. Traveller's speed is based on his Ancestry/Base Speed, if on foot. If on a Mount or Vehicle, their speed is the Mount or Vehicle speed.
For vehicles that rely on pullying beasts ti nive, the speed is the Pullying Beasts Speed. For self-propelled vehicles (such a Silt Skmimmer), is the Vehicle Speed.
38
39
Party Speed
Party Speed is equal to the slowest Speed of it's members, including Travellers on foot, Mounts and/or Vehicles.
40
41
PaceThe Pace is based on two factors: 1) If you are travelling at a Fast, Normal or Slow Pace (each has it's own characteristics), and 2) Your Party Speed.
42
43
Forced MarchThe Party can travel any number of extra hours per day, increasing the distance covered, but it will require a Constitution Saving Throw for each extra hour, with increasing DCs. The Maximum DC for each day is included as reference.
Some vehicles allow you also to travel Full Day. If allowed, you can check that option to increase the Miles per Day.
44
45
Miles Per DayThe distance covered in a day depends on 1) The Party Speed, 2) the Travelling Pace, 3) The hours of Forced March, if any.
8h/day of travelling, at party Speed, are assumed.
46
47
Roads and TerrainsTravelling across some Terrains is harder than others. Each terrain penalyzes the Miles per Day in a different way. Roads however make travelling easier, so using an existing road removes any penalties from the Terrain crossed.
48
49
Completed StagesIf you have setup a long Journey and you already have completed some Stages, you can mark them as Completed so their information is not taken into account in the Totals.
50
51
UnitsFor Food, Fodder and Water. Using units allows the DM to indicate how many of each needs a creature per day, without relying on a specific unit of measure. Each Unit weight can also be adjusted, if wanted.
52
53
ForagingSome Mount/Pullying Beasts can forage in certain Terrains. If possible, those creatures don't consume Fodder on a Journey Stage where they can forage.
54
55
CapacityCapacity is measured in two difeerent ways: 1) Units, for Food, Fodder and Water, to know how many can be carried in each Container, and 2) In pounds, to calculte the weight being carried. Units are automatically converted to pounds when needed.
56
57
CargoTravellers base weight is already a bit higher than usual so to not have to record every ounce of equipment being carried, like armor and weapons. However, sometimes, the PC's are carrying some very heavy items, like a chest of ceramic coins. Or the skin of a slayed creature. You can use this field to include the weight of this kind of elements (use the ammount total).
58
59
LoadedA creature (Traveller, Mount or Pullying Beast) is Loaded if it's dragging more weight than they can lift. This reduces the effective speed in 0.5 mph. A Vechicle is loaded if their Pullying Beasts are Loaded.
60
61
ShadeHowda's and some Vehicles can, at DM discretion, provide Shade. A Traveller in a shaded Mount or Vehicle requires half the usual Water Units per day.
62
63
CoverHowda's and some Vehicles can provide Cover. A Traveller in a covered Mount or Vehicle has a Cover value that depends on the Howda or Vehicle Type.

BureaucracyThis page lists all the variables used in the spreadsheet, so a DM can adjust them at their convenience... probably (some things can break down if some things are done, but it's pretty safe, I think).
69
70
SsDefilingThis page includes some formulas needed to make the spreadsheet work. At this moment, not even I Im' sure of how some things work, so probably the best is to not mees with them

WantToHelp? This page includes a list of new Stages that I would like to include, with the empty fields needed to be informed in order to be possible to use them. If you want to help me, you can calculate that information ans share it with me. Please take into account that distances are based on the 4e map (roughly 2x the 2e maps).
