Take A Sound WalkStudent walks around their house (inside or out) and listens for all the sounds they hear. Examples: truck driving by, birds chirping, mom talking, clock ticking. Ordinary Objects, Extra Ordinary MusicStudents are instructed to collect 5-6 ordinary objects found around the home. They list the objects and write about what sounds those objects can make. The list can be turned in electronically or in person when school resumes. Take it another step by asking students to record the sounds they find or to create a short song/composition with the objects.
