Can staff on Open Ended contracts apply for Fellowships?Yes, staff on open ended contracts are able to apply for the fellowships.

Can staff on permanent contracts apply for fellowships?Fellowships are generally not open to are permanent/tenured staff members. The only exception is if the staff member is on a teaching contract and they wish to increase the amount of research they do. Permanent teaching staff should ensure that they have the support of their HoS (as their teaching commitment will need to be covered), and that their role will still exist following the fellowship.

Can someone act as mentor for more than one fellowship?Someone may act as mentor for 2 applicants providing that they are not submitting an application in the same round as a lead applicant. If they are submitting their own application to this round they may only mentor one fellowship application.

Is it possible to apply to both the MLTL and Sheffield Pioneers pots in one round with the same proposal?Yes, however the applications would need to be tailored to fit with the different schemes/strategies.

I know that applicants are only able to resubmit to the full scheme once. If my application did not pass the WCR triage stage, would this still count as a resubmission?Yes, it does still count as one submission. At triage, the application will still have been reviewed by three reviewers and viewed by the full WCR panel.

Are PhD studentships allowed to be requested within Programme Awards for Pioneer Round 4?Yes, they can be included - in the same way as for the Project awards: A PhD student may be included if the research justification is strong and the main objectives cannot be better achieved with other staffing modalities.
