This sheet compares the burst healing and damage output between a variety of Sayu's Clam builds, as well as the differences against Jean. Sayu/Jean are in support roles just to use burst, skill, then make like the thing on Sayu's head and leaf.

This was created with Favonius in mind. Using other weapons could alter sub-stat distribution needs and possibly change some of the results because of the shift in ER and Crit demand (Jean has a lower ER% requirement)

Sayu and Jean both at Lv 90, talent Lv 9, both using Lv 90 Favonius weapons, with crit rate at appx 65%.

ER% at 172.32%, funded by Favonius plus 2 rolls into ER% - enough to burst at least every other rotation in most comps.

No external buffs (except heal bonus applied to 4OHC). KQM standards with 40 substat rolls, with deviation in C6 Sayu's Full EM (3xEM) build to push crit rate up without crit circlet (kept here for reference)

Jean's Sunfire and fall damage not included. Sayu's skill uses a short hold E quick release tech, meaning a short hold on E to initiate roll, then immediately kick.

Sayu can use this set when 4vv isn't necessary on her

In the version below, swirls are omitted since there is often nothing to swirl in a Xiao double geo comp, and also shows the negative impact on a Sayu starved from any elements to interact with. However, unsurprisingly, ADC builds with crit dmg can hold up better

Conclusion kinda

When it comes to choosing between Jean or the different ways to build Sayu, players should take into consideration what their needs, priorities, and available resources are.

Will expand more, but essentially the choices are between stronger front loaded damage, stronger team healing, sustained healing, sustained damage over time, more swirls, etc.

Because C6's passive only affects Daruma, a full EM build will naturally have weaker burst team heal than an Atk% build. A1 proc at burst activation can help make up for this, but Sayu *must* swirl.

In the above builds, 2xEM C has 9 sub-stat rolls into Atk% while 3xEM only has 2 sub-stat rolls into Atk%, demonstrating that a comparably decent team heal can still be possible with an EM build, even without relying on A1 to proc.

Why Sunfire isn't included: it involves adding Bennett to the mix, is a niche build, and we can already conclude that Jean's healing will be crippled (at full EM) and that 10 swirls in 10 seconds beats Sayu's 5 swirls in 12 seconds.

Why fall damage isn't included: it will be when Jean can yeet Maguu Kenki.
