|PURPOSE: To introduce the rider and/or horse to the sport of dressage. To show understanding of riding the horse forward with a steady tempo into an elastic contact with independent, steady hands and a correctly balanced seat. To show proper geometry of figures in the arena with correct bend (corners and circles).||RIDER #||7236-2|
USDF INTRODUCTORY LEVEL – TEST A
Between X & C
|Enter working trot rising. |
|Straightness on centerline and in transition; clear trot and walk rhythm.||7||7||slight collapse over left rib cage: rider to sit "UP" more through collarbone area / stretch legs down and back ( slight chair seat)|
|Track right. |
Working trot rising.
|Balance and bend in turn. Quality of transition.||6.5||6.5||little detail no zoom|
|3||A||Circle right 20 meters, working trot rising.||Roundness and size of circle; clear trot rhythm and bend.||6.5||6.5||little detail no zoom|
|4||K-X-M||Change rein.||Clear trot rhythm and straightness on diagonal; bend through corners.||7||7||hands need to be fewer and more elastic through elbow and 4 arms to become more independent from posting/ seat / horse slightly counterbent thru corner m-C|
|5||C||Circle left 20 meters, working trot rising.||Roundness and size of circle; clear trot rhythm and bend.||0||0||ERROR- LEFT OUT CIRCLE TO THE LEFT before THE Walk|
|6||Between C & H||Medium walk.||Willing and balanced transition; clear walk rhythm.||6||6||slightly counter bend/ need to sit down before the trans and have more preparation|
|7||H-X-F||Free walk.||Complete freedom to stretch neck forward and downward; clear walk rhythm, straightness on the diagonal; ground cover.||6.5||6.5||like the relaxation but try to get horse to stretch.. needs ears BELOW withers and needs overtrack ( longer straps)|
|Willing and balanced transition; clear walk rhythm, bending in corner and turn.|
Straightness on centerline.
|6.5||6.5||some energy/ needs more need a little zoom|
|9||X||Halt and salute.||Straightness; willing, balanced transition at halt.||6||6||wandering left to the halt / unable to be sure whether rider took hand off rein at halt ???|
Leave arena in free walk. Exit at A.
|1||Gaits||Freedom and regularity||7||7|
|2||Impulsion||Desire to move forward with suppleness of the back and steady tempo.||6.5||6.5||suppleness of back|
|3||Submission||Acceptance of steady contact, attention, and confidence.||6.5||2||13||bend to improve|
|4||Rider’s Position and Seat||Keeping in balance with the horse||6.5||6.5||work for more elastic arms and hands lower and closer together, need to get leg down and longer ( slight chair seat) needs leg more under rider for correct aids|
|5||Rider’s Correct and Effective Use of the Aids||Correct bend and preparation of transitions||6.5||6.5||need more blancen and bend|
|6||Geometry and Accuracy||Correct size and shape of circles and turns||6||6||work to improve centerlines and be sure halts are steady and immobile to gain more points. see tutorials below for centerline help and salutes. errors also affect this score.|
|What a pretty horse!! this pair looks actively forward so now focus on rider being more in balance for the flatwork/dressage and being unbalanced to get the bending aids and accuracy improving.. I like the energy.. good job with that! Below are several video tutorials to help with centerlines and salutes! good luck!|
