Duke University - Arbor Day 2025 Tree Planting

1		Volunteer to help plant trees on the Duke campus. Trees will be planted in celebration of Arbor Day which occurs in April. Tree planting and tree education efforts contribute to Duke’s Tree Campus USA designation.			Education Focus: "Urban and suburban landscapes offer many opportunities for sustainable land management. By incorporating a diverse mix of approaches—such as preserving mature trees, planting small dense forests, and establishing native grasslands—we can enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and manage water more effectively. These techniques complement existing green spaces, adding more options to the palette of land management strategies. We'll also discuss how a non-profit community initiative, Project Pando, works to further expand these efforts by growing and sharing native trees, empowering individuals to contribute to a healthier, more resilient environment."
