“Come join us for a fun Spanish online baking class! We will make traditional Argentinean treats while learning about the culture and it’s traditions.”
Aprons are encouraged but not a must have.
A little bit about me:
“My name is Julieta Carril, I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I started Dulce Porteña out of missing all my favorite baked goods that I grew up with and wanting to share them with everyone. Dulce is sweet in Spanish and Porteña is what you call someone that grew up in Capital Federal, Buenos Aires. My favorite treat is Alfajores and my favorite pastry is a warm medialuna! I love teaching kids how to bake and teaching them a bit about Argentina while we do so!

Class Details:
Second Semester Virtual Art Classes: We will meet weekly through a Zoom classroom to create a piece of artwork that will explore a specific or a combination of the principles of design. In addition we will gain inspiration from famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Kieth Haring. Students will also have the opportunity to create works of pottery art with clay. We will use a variety of different materials to learn art from many different art mediums. Some projects we will complete are:
Pottery: Students will have the opportunity to work with clay and create a pinch pot and a slab art piece. Students finished clay works will need to be air dried for a week and then fired. I will set up times for parents to drop off their child’s creation, I will deliver to Lee Bolt Pottery for kiln drying and then set up a time for pick up. Students then will be able to use acrylic paint to paint their pottery pieces. * If firing is not feasible for your schedule please let me know, I can offer an air dry clay option that does not need firing.
Chinese Brush Strokes: students will learn simple, control over the use of their paint brushes and learn ancient techniques to create Chinese inspired paintings.
Wire Sculpture: students will create a wire sculpture (inspired by Pablo Picasso). Using wire, wood and other materials, students will construct a wire portrait sculpture inspired by Pablo Picasso.
Poster Pop Art: students will explore the art of pop art, and apply rhythm to their work to create movement (Kieth Haring inspired art).
And much more!
