At Discovery, we strive to inspire wonder, curiosity, and connection with the natural world through playful exploration and meaningful community. Our curriculum focuses on discovery-based learning using the natural world as a catalyst for growth and development. Processing wild edibles, woodworking, building and cooking over the fire, handcrafting, canoeing, shelter building - our classes encourage connection to the natural world and one another. All courses are a year-long commitment and require a $150 Enrollment Deposit. Hamilton students are permitted to use one to three class credits (Art, Culture and Outdoor Rec) to cover up to the full year’s tuition. (Hamilton part time students in grades K-8 are only allowed 2 electives. 9-12 students are allowed 3). Be sure to enroll directly with Discovery, as courses tend to fill fast. Thank you!

“My name is Julieta Carril, I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I started Dulce Porteña out of missing all my favorite baked goods that I grew up with and wanting to share them with everyone. Dulce is sweet in Spanish and Porteña is what you call someone that grew up in Capital Federal, Buenos Aires. My favorite treat is Alfajores and my favorite pastry is a warm medialuna! I love teaching kids how to bake and teaching them a bit about Argentina while we do so!

ASL with Holly (Kalling) Niles, MIhkalling@comcast.netK-12In-Person I am a Deaf homeschooling mom with a masters in Deaf Education and over 20 years of ASL teaching experience. Below is a summary of my two virtual ASL courses:
ASL 101: A fun beginner ASL course taught by a Deaf person, this online class will introduce ASL vocabulary and grammar. 12 instructional weekly videos will be provided on Canvas where students will watch, learn, and complete the accompanying assignments given in PDF format for printing at home. Students will also have the opportunity to record themselves signing and submitting their recorded assignments on Studio using Canvas. A great way to learn ASL remotely, this course is followed by ASL 201.
ASL 201: A follow-up course to ASL 101 taught by the same Deaf instructor, this second-level course consists of an additional 12 instructional ASL videos provided on Canvas where students will watch, learn, and complete the accompanying assignments given in PDF format for printing at home. Students will expand on their ASL knowledge and have the opportunity to record themselves signing for teacher feedback. Taking ASL 201 is a great way to continue learning ASL and keep up your signing skills!
