2
Welcome & Congratulations on completing (or nearly being nearly completed) your LL.B! This document is meant to guide you through the various activities you will need to take-on in order to 1) convert your UK LL.B into a recognized law degree in Canada, and 2) secure a Canadian Summer Associate and/or Articling job. I've written this document based on the lessons I learned after graduating from The City Law School (City, University in London) in 2018 and hope you find it a helpful guide as you navigate the next steps in becoming a qualified Canadian lawyer.

This Calendar is produce in collaboration between NCA Tutor (NCA-Tutor.com) and The Transition Law Blog (thetransitionlawblog.com). If you have any questions about my experience or the contents of this document, please feel free to contact me at: TransitionLawBlog [at] gmail.com

Notes on Provincial RequirementsI've written his document from an Ontario perspective. Requirements and dates in your province may differ. However, in. my experience most large law firms followed the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) recruitment timelines in 2019 regardless of which province they were located in.

Canadian Court

Court Clerkships are alternate methods of fulfilling Articling requirements in some provinces. Please check with your Law Society to confirm articling requirements for your province.

Law Society
Licensing Process
At some point during the year you will likely need to register with your provincial law society to put yourself on their radar for articling and writing the bar. In Ontario, you need not have a secured articling possition to register and/or write the bar.
