3 | 1. | Clone this spreadsheet and save it somewhere you'll find it again. You may need to re-lock some of the worksheets that are locked here. | |
4 | 2. | Fill out column A in the Master Estimate sheet. What you enter there will magically show up on the developer 1 and developer 2 sheets, for them to reference when they make their own estimates. | |
5 | 3. | Rename the Developer 1 and Developer 2 sheets if you'd like, perhaps to the actual developer's names. | |
6 | 4. | Adjust column headings E-I to match your process - default values are: research, design, development, theming, QA. | |
7 | 5. | Have the developers make their estimates in their own sheets, breaking estimates across columns E-I. Developers should also specify their uncertainty. | |
8 | 6. | The Comparison sheet will show estimates from both developers, including the difference between their high estimates. You may wish to filter column C to spot high values that need discussion. | |
9 | 7. | Once you've reached agreement about the estimates you've produced, copy the agreed-upon estimates to the master estimate sheet. When complete, you can check out the subtotals sheet to account for PM or other fixed costs. | |
