Dear project leader,

the BOSS team is happy to provide you with an easy to use excel tool to analyse your BOSS-questionnaire. There are many other statistical instruments to analyse questionnaires like SPSS or similar freeware. If you are able to use those don't bother to use this spread sheet. But if you are a hands on person we'll explain how to use this file.

Before you start, number the questionnaires starting with P001, P002,...

1. The data from your questionnaires goes into the data sheet; every participant is one row, the questions are the columns
2. Delete the questions you didn't ask - delete the full column
3. Fill in additional questions you might have asked with copy and paste from your questionnaire into a new column and choose the right code and the right analysing information in that column with copy and paste.
4. Check your number of participants. Write the number in C1 (red field) and delete the rows you wont' use (example if you have 50 questionnaires delete P051-P100). If you have more than 100 questionnaires fill in rows before row 105 (because otherwise excel won't automatically change the functions) and continue naming the rows P99-your number of questionnaires
5. Delete the data of the two examples P001 and P002
6. Now start filling in the answers. One questionnaire is one row. You will have to use the code for the answers explained under every question in row 6. So for example, if the answer was "much worse now" the code to write in the box would be “1”. If you have no filled in answer in the questionnaire, write an "xx". Sorry that you have to do this translation that's the way excel works!
7. After you filled in the answers you will find the analysis below the black row (108). The diagrams will fill in automatically and you can now take the figures and diagrams to copy in your report.
