ConnecticutWillimantic, CT - Off the beaten path. I lived there for about a year and fell in love with New England! It was my "perfect movie" town. They have a street fair every 3rd Thursday (except during the winter) with music, food, unique vendors, fun stuff for kids, street performers!! Oh how I miss it! There is Willimantic brewing company that makes soda. It's an old town that was built around a thread factory that has since closed down, but there are statues of frogs sitting on spools of thread around town. While living there I found the next few places on my list. Devil's Hopyard State Park, East Haddam, CT, Gillette Castle State Park, Hadlyme, CT,

MontanaGlacierMarianne Bradley-KopecLewistown is an adorable little town right in the middle of the state. There is a road just a little ways out of town that climbs up a mountain and at the top you can find rocks that when your break open they look like diamonds :) lots of fun for kids! Lewis and Clark Caverns near Three Forks, MT
Hyalite Canyon and Reservoir south of Bozeman, MT. Really you can't go wrong with anything around Bozeman/Gallatin Valley, West Yellowstone and Gardiner, MT are both great especially in the summer when all businesses are open, Yellowstone National Park(there's so much to do and see that I suggest a couple of days for the park), Chico Hot Springs north of Gardiner. WyomingGrand TetonAriel C. McGlothinDevil's Tower and Vedawoo, Granite Hot Springs, Jackson Hole, Devils Tower WY and if your needing a spot to camp overnight might I suggest Cook Lake near Sundance WY. It's our families favorite off the beaten path retreat. A small quiet lake, do some fishing or swimming. Have a picnic, and just relax. The drive there is lovely too as you pass through a great Aspen forest. Martins cove,
