| Every night when the sky turns red up above I feel the beat in my veins And I'm searching for love You know that hips don’t lie I leave you hypnotized Just give me one more try To make you feel that vibe And it goes | 毎夜、空が赤く染まる頃 波打つ血潮を僕は感じる そして僕は愛を探し求めている 判るだろう、ヒップは嘘をつかないんだ 君の眠りは醒まさずにおくよ もう一度だけ試させてくれ 君がその感じを掴めるまで そうさきっと | - We are allowed to imagine whatever things are implied in the words and phrases in this lyric but I idon't want to go too deep into it. - A popular precedent that used the phrase "Hips don't lie" is a song by Shakira in 2006.
| Ra ta ta ta ta ta! My body is a weapon Ra ta ta ta ta ta! We’re gonna hit the floor Ra ta ta ta ta ta! We’re gonna make it happen Ra ta ta ta ta ta! Now gimme some more | ラタタタ・タ・タ! 僕の体が武器になる ラタタタ・タ・タ! 僕らがフロアを席巻する ラタタタ・タ・タ! やって見せるさ ラタタタ・タ・タ! さあ、もっと寄こしてくれ | - "Ra ta ta ta" is an onomatopoeia that relates explosive intermittent tone from engines, guns, etc., and that I assume Westerners will be more familiar with than we Japanese are.
| I will push it to the limit And everybody’s feeling the sound of the night I don’t wanna stop We push it to the limit Together we will crash the morning light | ギリギリまで突き進む みんな夜の音を感じ取っているんだ やめたりはしない 行けるところまで行く 一緒に朝の光を打ちつけよう | - I have no idea if the phrase "Push it to the limit" relates to any past works such as this movie. *Received a suggestion of this song by Corbin Bleu as a source of inspiration for the phrase.
| ブ·チ·ア·ガ·レ! Bun Bun Bun Moving Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Shaking Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Jumping Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Stomping Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun | ブ·チ·ア·ガ·レ! Bu-chi-a-ga-re! Get super hyped! ブンブンブン 揺れ動いて ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 揺さぶって ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 飛び跳ねて ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 踏み鳴らして ブンブンブン ブンブン Boom Boom Boom Bun Bun | - "Bu-chi-a-ga-re" is a combination of "Bu-chi" and "A-ga-re", the former adds some emphasis to the latter. "A-ga-re" is an imperative form of the verb "A-ga-ru" which means in this usage to be mind-exalted or spirit-elevated by anything with positive impressions. I assume "Get hyped" might fit well for it, so "Get super hyped!" will work for "Bu-chi-a-ga-re!". - "Bun-bun-bun" is a mimetic word that stands for actions like waving/swinging around something or buzzing of small insects such as bees etc., and the former is more likely in this case but the latter also fits.
| アゲ! キラっとしちゃうアゲ! フワっとしちゃうアゲ! ドキっとしちゃうアゲ! 小悪魔しちゃうけど大丈夫? 瞳に映した 笑顔の魔法で罠に誘い込む | A-ge! Kiratto shichau A-ge! Fuwatto shichau A-ge! Dokitto shichau A-ge! Koakuma shichau kedo daijōbu? Hitomi ni utsushita Egao no mahō de wana ni sasoi komu Get hyped! I cannot but gleam. Get hyped! You will feel elated. Get hyped! You must get startled. Get hyped! I'm going to be mischievous and can you handle it? The magic of my smile reflects in your eyes and will tempt you to my trap. | - "A-ge" is a noun from "A-ge-ru" which is a transitive verb while "A-ga-ru" is an intransitive one. So like "A-ga-re!" above, "Get hyped!" or "Make yourself hyped!" would be suitable to interpret "A-ge!" here. - "~Shichau" is a shortened form of "~Shite shimau" that adds some feels of "end up ~ing", "can't help ~ing", or "find oneself ~ing" to the basic form of "~Suru". - "Kiratto", "Fuwatto", and "Dokitto" are adverbial phrases that indicate some gestures or reactions for each. - "Koakuma" is literally "a little devil" and "Koakuma suru" means to act mischievously like a little devil to someone. | - Another possible interpretation of "A-ge!" suitable to this scene is literally, lifting someone up and figuratively, praising or flattering someone. You may recall the phrase in the song "GJ!" --- "Mochi-Age-te / lift me up." - There are four "Shichau" and you could take them all as her action, but my interpretation is that the first and the last are what she shows or does to her counterpart and the rest are how her counterpart responds to them. - "Koakuma shichau kedo daijōbu?" is a very bold wording that could be paraphrased like this way; "Now I'm going to act like a mischievous little devil to you but are you sure you could keep calm with me?"
| And it goes Ra ta ta ta ta ta! My body is a weapon Ra ta ta ta ta ta! We’re gonna hit the floor Ra ta ta ta ta ta! We’re gonna make it happen Ra ta ta ta ta ta! Now gimme some more | そしてこうだ ラタタタ・タ・タ! 僕の体が武器になる ラタタタ・タ・タ! 僕らがフロアを席巻する ラタタタ・タ・タ! やって見せるさ ラタタタ・タ・タ! さあ、もっと寄こしてくれ | - If it comes with triple times as "Ra-ta-ta", that reminds us Japanese of old TV commercial films that featured a great actress; (1976) (1977).
| I will push it to the limit And everybody’s feeling the sound of the night I don’t wanna stop We push it to the limit Together we will crash the morning light | ギリギリまで突き進む みんな夜の音を感じ取っているんだ やめたりはしない 行けるところまで行く 一緒に朝の光を打ちつけよう
| ブ·チ·ア·ガ·レ! Bun Bun Bun Moving Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Shaking Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Jumping Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Stomping Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun | ブ·チ·ア·ガ·レ! Bu-chi-a-ga-re! Get super hyped! ブンブンブン 揺れ動いて ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 揺さぶって ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 飛び跳ねて ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 踏み鳴らして ブンブンブン ブンブン Boom Boom Boom Bun Bun | - Japanese standard spelling of the sound "ブン" is "bun" but when we say "ブンブン", "boom boom" might be closer to what Westerners hear.
| I’m here for the moment Here for the beat Here for the love And the friends I need You know that I’ll be there for good I’m here for the moment Here for the beat Here for the love And the friends I need You know that I’ll be there for good | この瞬間のためにここに来たんだ 鼓動を求め 愛を求め そして欠かせない友を求めて 分かるだろう 僕はずっとそこにいるよ この瞬間のためにここに来たの 鼓動を求め 愛を求め そして欠かせない友を求めて 分かるでしょう 私はずっとそこにいるわ | - BM's lyrics usually refrain from using female words and the personal pronouns are mostly neutral or male ones such as "Kimi" or "Boku". While in this part, the same phrase is shared by both male and female singers in English so I thought it better to show the difference in Japanese.
| RA TA TA TA! I go fucking crazy ‘cause I’m waiting for the drop Are you ready? Let's GO! So tell me baby can I get a Fu! Fu! So hear me now Fu! Fu! You know what I want Fu! Fu! Now everybody's getting down | ラタタタ! 滴りを待ちかねて気が変になる 準備はいいか? さぁ行こう! 手に入れられるか教えてくれ フゥ!フゥ! 聞いてくれ フゥ!フゥ! 何が欲しいか分かるだろう フゥ!フゥ! もうみんなノリノリだ | - When we have in mind these chants like "フゥ!フゥ!", "Fu! Fu!" is the usual spelling as Japanese but actually, it may sound like "Whoa! Whoa!" to Westerners, I suppose. *Received suggestions like "Oo-ah! Oo-ah!" or "Ooh Ooh" to spell out that chant.
| I will push it to the limit And everybody’s feeling the sound of the night I don’t wanna stop We push it to the limit Together we will crash the morning light | ギリギリまで突き進む みんな夜の音を感じ取っているんだ やめたりはしない 行けるところまで行く 一緒に朝の光を打ちつけよう
| ブ·チ·ア·ガ·レ! Bun Bun Bun Moving Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Shaking Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Jumping Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun Stomping Bun Bun Bun Bun Bun | ブ·チ·ア·ガ·レ! Bu-chi-a-ga-re! Get super hyped! ブンブンブン 揺れ動いて ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 揺さぶって ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 飛び跳ねて ブンブンブン ブンブン ブンブンブン 踏み鳴らして ブンブンブン ブンブン Boom Boom Boom Bun Bun | - By the way, there's a children's song called "蜂が飛ぶ / Bees Fly" which we in Japan all learned.
| Everybody! Fu! Fu! Out of control Fu! Fu! Everybody! Fu! Fu! Out of control Fu! Fu! Fu! Fu! Now everybody’s getting down | さぁみんな! フゥ!フゥ! 手が付けられない フゥ!フゥ! なぁみんな! フゥ!フゥ! 取っ散らかってる フゥ!フゥ!フゥ!フゥ! もうみんなノリノリだ | - Also, this "フゥ!フゥ!" is the sort of chant that instantly brings some "happy-go-lucky" feelings which is hard to explain but reminds us of the "bubbly" atmosphere of the short-lived prosperous era of our country's economy a while ago when uttered this way.
| * "Opposite" means "Japanese versus English" here. | - For further analysis, visiting Prof. AJ Hartley's video is recommended as always.
| - Also, here's an informative reaction I happened to find.
