Morning Session 2 (9am-12pm)MindUP: How Libraries Can Use Socio-Emotional Learning in Its ProgrammingLearn how you can utilize the MindUP for Life, a research-based program developed by the Goldie Hawn Foundation, in your programming to help build resilience and self-regulation skills in children. This program utilizes the latest information about the brain to improve behavior and learning for all children, and the principles are easy to implement into your current programming. Diana Koonce, Children’s Program Manager for The Well of Lexington, will lead a hands on training on MindUP and brain-focused activities to develop lifelong skills including Mindful Awareness, Mindful of Senses, Mindful Practice, Mindful Mindset and Taking Action Mindfully. Ms. Koonce previously worked 10 years at the Lexington Public Library and 15 years in public health program management with Kentucky Department for Public Health and the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department managing programs geared towards children, youth and families.West B

Afternoon Session 1 (1:30-4:30pm)Five Components of a Strategic Annual Fundraising Plan

Would you set out on a road trip without a map or GPS? Probably not. Then why do so many of us move forward with our fundraising efforts without a map or clear direction? A solid fundraising plan serves as a roadmap and shows organizations where and how to allocate resources – both time and money.

This session will deep dive into the five critical steps to develop your plan and assess fundraising activities to achieve the greatest impact for your mission. You do not want to miss this highly interactive session as it will provide the essential elements for the creation of a fundraising plan that is both relevant and effective. This session is designed to equip both new and experienced fundraisers with practical steps to either create your first written fundraising plan or improve upon your existing fundraising plan.

Participants will walk away with a solidified understanding of:

· Each step of the process for creating a personalized annual fundraising plan from crafting a compelling case for support to effective donor stewardship and all the steps in between.

· Resources to identify and support the practical steps and internal infrastructure needed to operationalize fundraising strategies.
What to expect:

In this three-hour session, Lexington Public Library Foundation staff members Elizabeth A. Neher, a Certified Fundraising Executive, and experienced political and library fundraiser, Paige Halpin Smith, will share content, examples, resources, and facilitate opportunities for participants to connect with organizations of similar size and structure for peer-to-peer learning and perspective.

Afternoon Session 2 (1:30-4:30pm)Work Culture: Healthy Strategies for a Toxic World?The Harvard Review calculates the cost of unhappiness/toxicity in the workplace at "$8.8 trillion in productivity" and even more in HR expenses. They report that "50% of the global workforce is quiet quitting and another 18 percent are loud quitting." Most of us feel this problem daily, but what do we do when we're either dissatisfied ourselves, not in a place to enact change, or can't picture what the first step might be? This session will take a hard, practical look at the micro and macro strategies of building healthy environments. Whether you're at the top or bottom of the org chart, you'll receive basic how-tos on creating and encouraging joy among your system.
