B2.1 Clubs shall register all their playing members on the ECF League Management System by the end of September. Players joining a club after that date must be registered before playing in league competitions.

B2.2 A club with more than one team in the Divisional Championships shall nominate players for every team other than the lowest.

B2.3 A club shall submit all nominations before any of its teams plays its first match in the Divisional Championships.

B2.4 All nominations, both within and between teams, shall be in descending order of playing strength, unless the league secretary agrees otherwise in any particular case. In determining playing strength for nominations, clubs shall take into account players’ original rather than revised A or K ratings as published in the September ECF rating list, and must be able to justify significant departures from the rating order.

B2.5 After nominations have been submitted, if a player obtains an A or K rating, or a new player with an A or K rating joins a club, the league secretary may direct that the player is added to the nomination list that best reflects his or her playing strength.

B2.6 The number of players nominated for each team shall be at least equal to the number of boards in the team.

B2.7 The league secretary may to refuse to accept any particular nomination if he or she has reason to believe that the player in question will not play for the club during the season.

B2.8 Nominated players may play any number of games for their nominated team or a higher team, but may not play for a lower team.

B2.9 A player shall be ineligible to play for a team after playing a combined total of five games for one or more higher teams (excluding games won by default).

B2.10 If a nominated player does not play for the club during the season, that player will only be allowed to play for the club in the next season in which they play, as an additional nominated player, unless exempted by the League Secretary.

B2.11 On the 31st of January, or when half of a team’s fixtures (rounded down where this is an odd number) have been played, whichever comes later, if a team has a nominated player who has not yet played, unless an exemption is granted by the League Secretary, that player will be replaced on the nominations list by the strongest player who is not yet nominated who has played 2 or more games. The original nominated player may only play in the latter stages of the season as an additional nominated player.

Captains should choose the 8 strongest players that they reasonably believe to play 2 or more games for the team throughout the season, to be their nominated players for a team.

Captains will be expected to coordinate with their clubmates and assign any newly joined strong players to their most appropriate team. Failure to do so may result in a sanction at the League Secretary's discretion for bringing the LCL into disrepute (e.g. If a club introduces a 2400 player who plays 4 games for Team 4 before moving up to Team 3 etc. when Team 1 has a 2250 strongest player, this is clearly not within the spirit of the rules). It's fair to say this is common sense.

Remember: if a nominated player does not play for the club during the season, that player will only be allowed to play for the club in the next season in which they play, as an additional nominated player, unless exempted by the League Secretary.
