Nelson10,572The City of Nelson funds community cultural activities through the Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives Program.
They allocate 25% of those funds to Arts, Culture & Heritage which amounts to between $40,000-$50,000 annually.
This is project-based funding which supports individual artists, arts organizations, and public art projects.

Cultural Organizations which receive ongoing funding from the City:
Touchstones Museum - $223,000
The Capitol Theatre - $67,500
Nelson & District Arts Council - $2,500
City of Nelson Cultural Development Committee - $40,000 (pays for Cultural Development Officer and other CDC expenses)
City of Nelson Heritage Working Group - $4,000
Funds equivalent to 3% of development permit fees goes into the Public Art Reserve Fund which is used for public art maintenance, commissions, public art related expenses.The City is also investing into public art within infrastructure - i.e. benches, railings, stairs, etc. - if a capital project includes elements that could be done by an artist, the City’s CDC (Cultural Development Committee) will work with the City to do a call for artists, jurying process, etc. to have an artist complete these elements. Coquitlam139,280$1,853,563.00The City of Coquitlam offers a Spirit Grant using Casino Host funds. Community groups can apply once per year for program, event or project funding. In 2016 the City funded the initiatives totalling $485,460. Many of these initiatives were "Arts and Culture" related, while some were sports related.$199,300$4,989,052Annual Arts and Culture Grants are approved annually by Council at Budget time.  These funds go to Place des Arts, Evergreen Cultural Centre, and Coquitlam Heritage Society for operating funds.09/04/18
