2 | 1/29/2015 15:01:23 | Aaron (aaron72) | 269 | 90 | A medium tan colored torpedo with a couple of prominent veins and some wrinkles. The seams are blended nicely and almost invisible. The cap is applied nicely with a very symmetrical tip. There is a little bit of tobacco protruding from the foot | 92.5 | The aroma from the wrapper is a mix of barnyard and leather. From the foot, a very pleasant and very aromatic sweet tobacco is present. | 92.5 | Mild-Medium | Medium | The pre-light draw brings a little spice and sweet hay. Upon lighting, a very nice cinnamon flavor is what is introduced. The retrohale also contains cinnamon along with some cream. At about 3/4 of an inch, the cinnamon fades away and is replaced by a light oak flavor. The creaminess has made its way to the mouth to mix with the oak and the same combination is present on the retrohale. The cream has gone away and a slight char has joined the oak. Just past the halfway mark of the third, the retrohale has become very bright and refreshing. Nearing the end of the third, the flavor and retrohale move back to a creamy oak. | 82.5 | Medium | Medium | As the second third begins, the oak is transitioning to a slightly spicy cedar. The retrohale also contains some of the spice which mixes well with the cream that is present. At about a half inch into the third, a metallic taste comes in which is overpowering the other flavors. After a few draws, the metallic fades away quite a bit, but I still get a bit of it on the aftertaste. As the rest of the third progressed, the metallic flavor alternated in its strength which made the experience not very enjoyable. | 80 | Medium | Medium | At the beginning of this third, I performed a purge hoping to rid the cigar of the metallic taste that the second third introduced. It has helped a bit, but I still get traces of it. The flavor is now primarily back to oak in both the mouth and retrohale. A half inch in, the metallic flavor is returning and is very bitter and off-putting. I can't seem to get the cigar to shake it. | 95 | The draw was great, especially for a torpedo with the tapered head. | 92.5 | A nice burn. It wasn;t razor sharp, but always kept up with itself and needed no intervention. The cigar put out tons of smoke on each draw and even while at rest. | 92.5 | The construction was excellent. With great performance in the draw and burn, I needed to pay no attention to it and could really focus on the flavors it was presenting. | 82.5 | This cigar let me down. With great flavors in the first third and excellent performance, it was on track to be something very enjoyable. The second third introduced a metallic flavor and bitterness and I couldn't get that to go away. I hope I had an exception to what the others experienced. If not, this isn't something I would want to revisit. | 115
3 | 2/17/2015 16:50:34 | Jiunn (jliu) | 269 | 90 | Natural tan brown with a semi-slick oily feel. Tipping on the looser pack, nicely pressed veins, and well adhered triple cap. | 85 | Nosing the wrapper gives mainly strong notes of white pepper and hay. Nosing the foot reveals a sneezing (literally) amount of white pepper and strong barnyard. Cold draw reveals dry cardboard and slight cedar. | 85 | Medium-Strong | Medium | First third immediately makes me think ligero ligero ligero! What a blast of mouth numbing pepper and chilis! The pepper and chili is a ridiculous power house. It's hard to reach for other nuisances of the cigar due to the ridiculous heat. I am finding notes of oak, dried nuts, and some cream. That heat just drowns out so much. Thankfully, the spice blast ends an inch into the cigar (thank you God). | 85 | Strong | Medium | Second third tells similar notes as the later portion of first third (semi-sweet cream, cedar, dried nuts, some bready notes, and a hint of something). I feel like the initial pepper blast is making it really difficult to taste other flavors. There is an awful residual numbness on my palate. How unfortunate⦠Towards the end of the second third, the nicotine level has snuck up on me. I quickly go inside my house to reach for some sugar. | 85 | Strong | Medium | Last third reveals similar notes as the first and second thirds (semi-sweet cream, cedar, dried nuts). The bread-like and floral notes from the first and second half is no longer prevalent. Again, unfortunately, mouth is still numb. | 87.5 | Draw was a tad on the loose side. No real complaints. | 87.5 | Good burner. The ash was fairly tight and ample smoke production. | 87.5 | Given a good draw and burn, construction of the cigar was good. | 85 | If you like ligero, spicy pepper bombs, buy a master case of this cigar. As for me, this type of cigar is not within my wheelhouse. The heat level considerably drowned out other flavors of the cigar. I'm actually feeling pretty light-headed as I type this. Time to go eat more sugar. | 70
4 | 2/18/2015 13:54:32 | Emmett (rhetorik) | 269 | 87.5 | The wrapper is pretty light colored, and a little splotchy. There are some prominent veins but the seems are smooth. It feels pretty smooth to the touch and has a good squeeze feel to it. | 92.5 | The wrapper has a very leathery smell to it. The foot has leather and the added smell of coffee. The pre-light draw is easy and earthy. | 95 | Medium | Medium-Full | The first puff actually tastes like bourbon... I don't think I've ever experienced that before. A little further in, the bourbon is joined by some leather and nuts. A great start to this cigar. | 92.5 | Medium | Medium | This third starts out with a fresh flavor profile, mostly cedar right now. The finish is a green tea. This third isn't as complex, but is very enjoyable. This third finishes out much like it started with cedar and a little leather, but I enjoyed it. | 95 | Medium-Strong | Medium-Full | This third carries over the leather from the previous third, but now the wood has changed into more like a balsa flavor, lighter. The green tea is still on the finish a bit, but now is a part of the main flavor mixture. Towards the end, some spice shows up making for a nice finish, I would call this a pepper spice, not very strong. Right at the very end, a roasted almond flavor comes in, really nice. | 90 | The draw was very good most of the time, but tightened up a litte at the end. | 100 | Great burn, never had to touch it, could not ask for more. | 95 | Overall the construction was great, the burn was perfect, the draw got a little tight, but other than that was good. | 95 | I really liked this cigar. It was a great middle of the day smoke, not too strong, not too weak. It reminded me of the Sun Grown Perdomo Champagne. There was lots of flavor, but not too much spice, until the end, when it needed it. I would definitely smoke this again, and might buy a few to age. | 88
5 | 2/26/2015 8:17:24 | Sandeep (Djangos) | 269 | 92.5 | The cigar appears well made with a light brown wrapper and a smooth surface. Torpedo shape with a good taper. There are no major blemishes on the wrapper. The veins are visible but not too prominent to the touch. | 92.5 | The cigar has earthy notes of hay and grass as well as some woodsy notes of cedar. The dry puff had more prominent leather and cedar. | 87.5 | Medium | Medium | The cigar stars with a lot of pepper that persists for quite a while. Surprisingly even after the first inch the pepper is just beginning to mellow out but still quite prominent. The other flavors that are trying to come through are hay and leather. There were no issues with the burn or draw. The smoke is a little wispy. The ash is gray and holds for less than an inch before falling off. | 87.5 | Medium | Medium | The pepper is still quite prominent in the middle third. However this is not really adding to the complexity because most of the other flavors seem to be drowned out. Towards the end of the third there is a harshness that is beginning to develop that is causing the back of my throat to get irritated. No issues with the draw or the burn. Towards the end of the third the pepper is slightly less prominent and more hay and leather come through. | 87.5 | Medium | Medium | The final third is yet more pepper! The little give in the pepper that I got in the middle third is gone again and the pepper is ramping once again. The leather and cedar are only in the background after the puff is already done. The harshness luckily dies down over an inch. Overall a very one sided pepper fiend. No issues with the draw or the burn in this third. | 97.5 | No issues with the draw the entire length of the cigar. | 97.5 | No issues with the burn to the very end. | 95 | Seems well constructed torpedo with a firm feel to the entire length that did soften once the heat went through. No major issues with the wrapper with no blemishes. No soft spots were appreciated. | 87.5 | Over all the cigar was very one dimensional with pepper as the predominant flavor. If you like pepper bombs you may enjoy this one. It was definitely not in my profile so I may not go looking for one. I do however feel that if allowed to rest a few months this may be more promising than right now. | 65
