This spread sheet is fairly self explanitory to fill out, however to save any confusion please read this following guide before entering any data.

I have tried to keep the amount of data needing to be entered into this spread sheet minimal, as they aim is to give a gain a general background on what lures/ calls/ basic settings are catch which bat species. With the hope that if enough data gets entered into this spread then trends can start to be extracted and if desired the data can be used to inspire more detailed studies answering specific questions

DateThe date of the survey either in the format of the country the survey took place, i.e. DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY

TimeTime that the bat was caught. Use 24hr format (HH:MM)

Region (County)The region of trapping location. In UK type the county

HabitatSimple description of surrounding habitat of the trap placement
(i.e. broadleaf woodland, urban, parkland, lake, riparian etc. and can use a combination of habitats such as riperian & parkland)

Mist net - heightSingle = 1 net high, double = 2 nets high, triple = three nets high

Type of Call playingThe type of call being played by the lure. Social call: A (Aggressive/ threatening), Ci (Isolation), C.t (Tandem flight),
C.c (Co-ordination/cohesion/ chase), D.s (Advertisement), D.a (agnostic), Echolocation, Feeding buzz.
For further descriptions of social call categories please refer to Social Calls of the bats of britain and Ireland book.
Note - Distress calls have been left out from the list as it is considered unethical to use these.

Lure Call volume For lures which do not have numbers for the volume (i.e. Autobat) then use clock position I.e. "6 o'clock" for volume nob pointing directly down
For the AT100 this is the volume slider number rather than the decibel output

Lure Call delayNumber of seconds between each cycle of the call playing. if unknown state "unknown"

Approx. duration of call playing prior to capture (mins)This is the approximate time/ maximum known time the call was being played by the lure prior to capture of bat.
I.e. if you change the call every time the trap is checked and you check the trap every 15 minutes. Then the maximum known time the call could
have been playing prior to capture would be 15 minutes.
However, if you are playing the same call all night then it would be the number of minutes from when the call started playing until capture.
