DEP adds to abandoned well list, prioritizes plugging. Complainant suspects surface water contamination of stream that they (complainant) tested with high conductivity. Important since locals cited abandoned wells as a concern - then new wells pop up in DEP inspection during contamination events.

Inspector found no mechanical integrity issues, normal pressure, but later notes that operator discovered "downhole equipment failure." Next day another inspector finds leaks and waste contamination problems, veryfying complainant concerns. Week later brine leaks were still on the ground - no violations cited.

For the Clinton 014 spill the company had dug an unlined pit to contain injection well fluid spill, failure to notify DEP, violations to Solid Waste Management Act and Clean Streams Laws. For the Clinton 027 spill the inspector found evidence of injection well fluid release, failure to notify DEP, violations were noted for Solid Waste Management Act and Clean Streams Laws. Follow up report attached for Gillis 020 well shows complaint is closed two years later when it was finally remediated under a remedial action completion report. No testing was mentioned for surrounding drinking water wells.

DEP says "at the discretion of the Department, violations noted during this inspection are not being cited. A follow-up inspection will occur [almost two months] at which time violations will be cited if not corrected by ARG." No testing is noted for water supplies even though Clean Stream Laws are noted to be violated. Complaint is closed over a year later - no additional inspections were conducted, no violations were cited for this fluid release and cleanup.
