Subpar means a character struggles to have meta teams unless you put them in a wheelchair and use a 3 unit team to carry them. ChildeMeta-LowMidXiangling VapeWhen enemies are close enough to one another, Childe's team has great AoE damage distribution. Multi-wave content can pose a problem because of Childe's strict and sometimes difficult rotations. Childe's teams are often similar in power if not worse to teams where he is replaced by other available characters, making it relatively difficult to justify spending primogems on him as a team upgrade despite him being somewhat strong. Can be used in Neuvillette teams for Hydro resonance+Normal Attack level in speedrunning situations where enemies die quickly enough that a fourth character's animations would slow down the clear.On-Field DamageOn-Field Elemental Application

XingqiuMetaHighHighHyperbloom, Vape, Taser, Freeze, Overvape, BurgeonXingqiu is the most defensive-focused of the potential available off-field Hydro applicators. As such, he can be used in any team that benefits from off-field Hydro and defensive utility. Unlike most other defensive-focused units, he also has quite reasonable offensive output. The long duration of his burst also allows for more flexibility in your rotations, whereas characters with abilities with shorter durations may need to be swapped into later within a rotation.C2 and C6 are significant increases to his offensive outputOff-Field Elemental ApplicationOff-Field Damage, Defensive Utility
5
MonaViable-LowMidFreezeMona's short duration buff unfortunately doesn't align very well with any strong carries. Her Omen buff's duration only starts ticking down when it explodes, and it explodes upon enemies taking poise damage (getting hit by an ability that can stagger). When enemies are Frozen, they are immune to poise damage until the Freeze is over, meaning her buff's duration can be extended in Freeze teams, giving her a team where she can be useful.C1 is bugged and doesn't extend Freeze durationBuffOff-Field Elemental Application
6
KokomiMetaMidHighFreeze, Taser, Hyperbloom, Bountiful Bloom, Mono-HydroKokomi's healing is only to the active party member if you don't spend time on her during her burst, and to the whole team if you do. This means she can be used as a decent healer option in many teams, but she truly shines in teams where she can afford to spend field time. Her healing is quite potent, making her great at stacking Furina's fanfare stacks. On top of that, she has solid AoE for her albeit somewhat slow off-field Hydro application, making her perform quite well in AoE scenarios for dendro teams, especially Nilou's.Off-Field Elemental ApplicationDefensive Utility
7
BarbaraSubpar+MidMidBountiful Bloom, Any Furina team if you don't have another good healerBarbara's burst is almost always a full heal to the whole party, making her instantly stack a lot of Fanfare when played with Furina. However, her lack of any form of particle generation, paired with her 80 cost burst, makes her ER requirements in Furina teams very high. On top of that, in those teams, Barbara's Hydro application matters a lot less, since you already have Furina. However, she's still a fine option if you need a healer. She also does surprisingly well in Nilou teams if you make sure to stick close to the enemies.C6's cooldown is too long to be reliably usefulDefensive UtilityOff-Field Elemental Application
8
AyatoMeta-HighHighHyperbloom, Burgeon, Taser, Vape, Bountiful Bloom, Overvape, Freeze, Mono-HydroAyato's biggest upsides are the size of his AoE and his versatility when it comes to team building. With Neuvillette's release, since he has arguably better AoE and can be played in most of Ayato's teams to greater effect, Ayato's pull value has plumetted. Despite this now abysmal pull value, Ayato's teams are still fairly strong, and he can still be used in many of them.On-Field DamageOn-Field Elemental Application, Off-Field Elemental Application
9
YelanMetaHighHighHyperbloom, Vape, Taser, Overvape, BurgeonOften compared to Xingqiu, Yelan functions as a more offensive-focused version of him. She doesn't have any of his defensive utility and has slower Hydro application, but in exchange, she has the potential for higher damage and provides an offensive buff. Yelan took an indirect hit from Hoyoverse's recent attempts at designing characters that don't synergize well with Xingqiu, as those characters generally also don't synergize well with Yelan. However, the existence of characters that don't work with her does not invalidate the strong teams that do. Yelan tends to perform best in teams with two or three Hydro characters, where you can focus more on her damage.Off-Field Elemental ApplicationOff-Field Damage, Buff
10
CandaceViable+MidMidBountiful Bloom, VapeCandace's kit isn't particularly strong, but many recent characters have been given strong enough base kits that running weaker supports with better synergy is often just as strong as running the usual good supports. Candace's normal attack buff and Hydro application have given her a strong niche position in Mualani teams, as she can help enable Hydro swirl/crystallize setups while also giving Hydro resonance and a normal attack buff. At C6, she can also be used as an off-field Hydro applicator for Arlecchino in AoE scenarios.C1 significantly helps her uptime for all of her teams. C6 makes her stronger in Nilou teams, and unlocks the possibility of using her as an off-field Hydro applicator for Vape ArlecchinoDamage BuffOff-Field Elemental Application
11
NilouMetaLowLowBountiful BloomNilou's teams are incredibly powerful in AoE scenarios. Bloom deals AoE damage, meaning that triggering bloom on multiple enemies at the same time deals that AoE damage to all those enemies multiple times. Bloom's damage is capped at 2 instances per source in short succession, so having a very large amount of targets doesn't make too much of a difference. However, the difference between one and two enemies is massive. Nilou's teams are significantly weaker in single target, and her inability to use characters of elements other than Hydro or Dendro can also be an issue against enemies that have special mechanics like cryo or geo shields. Despite all of this, the most difficult abyss chambers are often ones with a lot of AoE, and Nilou's ability to deal well with that, paired with how easily it is for her to carry over a rotation onto the next wave in multi-wave scenarios, make her quite strongOff-Field Transforming your reactions into other reactions I guessOff-Field Elemental Application
12
Hydro MCTerribleLowLowNoneHydro MC is the worst character in the game. They don't give any buffs, their skill does incredibly little damage, and their burst that has fine damage and a bit of off-field application just moves through enemies and stops hitting them. NoneNoneNone
13
NeuvilletteMetaHighHighHyperbloom, Taser, Mono-Hydro*, VaporizeNeuvillette is an abomination. Most carries that have powerful meta teams are balanced by having downsides other than their damage, such as Arlecchino's inability to heal and somewhat small AoE, Hu Tao's single target focused damage, Alhaitham's relatively low investment ceiling that prevents him from being that powerful at very high investment, etc. Neuvillette, on the other hand, got upsides instead of those downsides. He's an HP scaler, making him very tanky. He heals himself a LOT, making him even tankier. He can freely glide around while shooting enemies, making it easier to dodge incoming attacks and to position yourself well. His beam has incredible range, which paired with his ability to glide around makes him incredible at hitting enemies in AoE scenarios. He even has a passive that encourages you to have more elements in your team, which, since his best team doesn't max out this passive, bridges the gap between his best team and budget teams for those who don't have the best supports. Neuvillette is what happens when an intern designs a character and nobody checks their work until they make it to the live servers. 14
FurinaMetaHighHighQuickbloom, Mono-Hydro, Taser, Noelle, Vape, FreezeFurina can fulfil the Hydro application requirement for teams that don't use Normal attacks much, which rules out Xingqiu and Yelan as strong options. On top of that, her large teamwide buff makes her a stronger offensive option than either of them when you have a way to stack her fanfare and her relatively slower Hydro application isn't a problem. She can also be used in teams that don't care for Hydro application simply because her buff and damage are powerful enough to justify a slot in almost any team that has the healing to enable that buff.Off-Field Elemental Application/Damage BuffOff-Field Damage
15
SigewinneViableLowHighMono-HydroSigewinne's only real redeeming quality at C0 is her high amount of team-wide healing, letting her generate a large amount of Fanfare stacks for Furina faster than a character like Kokomi, who mostly heals the on-field character and whose party wide healing is slow instead of instant.Defensive UtilityOff-Field Elemental Application, Damage Buff
16
MualaniMetaLowMidForward VapeDamage is split into 3 to 5 large damage instances per rotation, letting her nuke enemies pretty often as long as you're able to vaporize each hit. The amount of hits she gets from her skill (generally 2-4) depends on the amount of enemies as well as their movement and hitbox. Against a large number of clumped enemies, getting 4 hits is trivial, whereas against a single enemy with a janky hitbox or unpredictable movement like the Perpetual Mechanical Array, you'll often only find yourself getting 2. Mualani makes up for that potential inconsistency with great scaling with investment, allowing her to be one of the fastest characters for c0 speedrunningOn-Field DamageNone

XiaoMeta-*MidHighHyper (carry)The most important factor to Xiao's strength by far is Faruzan. If you don't have Faruzan's C6, he hovers between Viable and Meta, but if you do, he's without a doubt a Meta character. Xiao generally performs best in AoE content due to his ability to hit most enemies with his large AoE from the plunges, but as long as you have C6 Faruzan, his output in single target will still be reasonable enough. This is especially true in his best team, as Xianyun's buff applies only to one target anyways. Xiao also benefits from his ability to carry over his damage in multi-wave scenarios, as the only relevent debuff in his teams tends to be Faruzan's, which can reapply itself without her having to be swapped back in.On-Field DamageN/A
18
SucroseMetaHighHighHyperbloom, Vape, Taser, Overvape, QuickenSucrose's EM buff is quite big, which makes her a very strong VV option for carries of swirlable elements that benefit from EM. Her main competition in the VV slot tends to be Kazuha, who offers a DMG% buff of a similar value to Sucrose's EM buff. Compared to him, she has grouping that is generally harder to utilize well, and a buff that applies to a lower amount of carries. In exchange, in the right situations, due to her ability to carry TTDS, the value of her buff can be bigger, and her animations tend to be much faster than Kazuha's due to not having to plunge after her skill and being a 4* with a faster burst animation.C1 helps with grouping and energy generation, C6 is a nice conditional damage bonus that bridges the gap between her and Kazuha in mono teams where you don't benefit from her EMDamage BuffCrowd Control, On-Field Elemental Application
19
VentiViableHighLowYesVenti's biggest strength is that his grouping is by far the most potent of any character. However, him being balanced around the value of that grouping is also his biggest weakness. In chambers where his grouping doesn't help much, either because there's only one enemy or because the enemies are heavy, Venti tends to just be a strictly worse version of the other anemo characters. When his grouping does matter, he tends to be one of the most valuable characters in the game. However, the main form of difficult content in the game is Abyss, which always has 3 chambers. In order to keep Venti and other situational characters in check, Hoyo has generally not given us abysses where grouping matters in all 3 chambers, leading to situations where sacrificing a bit of grouping to get much more value in the chambers that don't require grouping tends to lead to better results.Crowd ControlBattery, Damage Buff, Off-Field Damage
20
KazuhaMetaHighHighHyperbloom, Vape, Taser, Overvape, Freeze, Burgeon, Quicken, Hyper (Support)Kazuha's buffs and grouping are generally easier to use than other anemo characters', making him the general default anemo option for teams that want VV. His burst absorption lets him potentially be a source of off-field elemental application for any of the four swirlable elements, potentially letting him consolidate the role of buffer and off-field application. On top of that, in quicken teams, absorbing Electro on his burst lets him trigger aggravate both on the electro damage itself AND on the electro swirl's AoE damage.Damage BuffOff-Field Elemental Application, Crowd Control, Off-Field Damage
21
JeanViableMidMidAny Furina team that needs AnemoJean doesn't really provide anything other than healing, but as an anemo character, she becomes an option for VV in teams that need healing, whether it's for the defensive utility of the healing itself, or to enable Furina's fanfare stacks. Jean also has situational value because of her self anemo applicaation, possibly serving as a source of off-field application if paired with other characters that self-apply elements like Bennett, as well as because of her skill's ability to launch enemies in the air to inflict fall damage on them.Defensive UtilityCrowd Control, Damage Buff, Off-Field Elemental Application
22
Anemo MCViableHighMidNoneAnemo MC's value comes exclusively from their ability to use VV. Compared to most other anemo characters, they don't tend to perform particularly well, but VV's value is high enough that Anemo MC is still a fine option in many teams for people who don't have the other good Anemo supports. Anemo MC is also very situationally useful to break Hydro shields in Freeze teams, as one of the few Anemo characters with a different absorption priority than most others, having Cryo as the highest priority elements instead of Pyro.Pog they are free!!!!!!Damage BuffCrowd Control
23
SayuViableMidMidAny Furina team that needs AnemoSayu generally functions as a lesser version of Jean. While her skill doesn't launch the enemies back like Jean's does, which can be an upside if you don't want to ungroup enemies that are already somewhat close together, her longer animatinos, paired with her off-field healing being mostly only to the active character, tend to make her a weaker and clunkier option in most teams where you would otherwise use Jean. However, her skill still gives her some overworld value because of its movement.Defensive UtilityOn-Field Elemental Application, Damage Buff
24
HeizouViableMidMidNoneHeizou is generally used as a sucrose downgrade in both teams where you would on-field her and teams where you would use her as a TTDS+EM buffer. His motion value scaling is higher than Sucrose's, but not high enough to make him a strong attack carry, and his weaker buffs, melee range and small AoE make him much clunkier and weaker than Sucrose in teams where you're using him for his elemental application. However, being weaker than Sucrose doesn't make him bad, and he's still a solid character in these teams.On-Field Elemental Application, Damage BuffCrowd Control
25
WandererViable+*MidMidHyper (carry)Wanderer, just like Xiao, is a character whose performance is heavily influenced by Faruzan. Having her at C6 makes him a fairly strong carry, but not having that C6 makes him somewhat lacking. Unlike Xiao, however, he doesn't tend to have great performance in AoE and is generally more reliant on sources of denfensive utility that provide resistance to interruption. In exchange for that, he gets the ability to hit mobile and flying enemies quite easily.On-Field DamageN/A
26
FaruzanMeta*LowHighHyper (support)Faruzan is a character whose performance completely changes based on her constellations. Before C6, she's a Viable character, but C6 pushes her very strongly in the Meta category. Faruzan is single-handedly responsible for the power of the good Anemo hypercarries.C6 changes her from a solid buff option to one of the strongest buffers in the game, by not only increasing the power of her buffs but also significantly reducing her ER requirements, providing more energy to the team, provide a bit of grouping, and providing a bit of off-field damage.Damage Buff(At C6) Battery, Off-Field Damage, Crowd Control
27
LynetteViableHighMidNoneLynette is a functional middle ground between defensive-focused and offensive-focused Anemo characters. Her defensive utility being a taunt makes it much less valuable than if it were a shield or healing, but it's still useful for a character who isn't mainly focused on defensive utility. As a VV unit, she has fine damage and a small buff.C6 enables Lynette as a carry. She can be used in plunge teams with Xianyun if you really want her to be the main source of a team's damage, or she can be used as a driver in teams that don't really have a particular on-fielder. It also enables weapon swirls, which can be used with Bennett's C6 to apply the VV debuff to enemies with innate auras, against which you wouldn't otherwise be able to trigger a Pyro swirl.Damage BuffDefensive Utility, (At C6) On-Field Damage Dealer
28
XianyunMetaMidHighVaporize, Xiao HyperXianyun's ability to enable any character to plunge makes her a fine option as a way to make any bad melee unit a functional Vape plunge carry, but her main value lies in her ability to buff Xiao's teams, especially in single target, as well as a few other characters that synergize well with plunges, mainly Gaming, Hu Tao and Diluc. The reason why these 3 characters are some of the ones that benefit the most from her is because her healing allows you to generate a lot of Fanfare, giving her great inherent synergy with Furina. Once you already have Furina's application, and since plunges don't have ICD, carries that can vaporize those plunges benefit from her quite a lot.Damage BuffHealer
29
ChascaMetaLowMidChasca teams man idk what to call themChasca's biggest strength, as well as her biggest weakness, is how well she synergizes with Mavuika. Her ability to make the most out of her own kit when you pair her with Cryo/Pyro/Hydro characters, as well as her synergy with both Bennett and Citlali, gives her a very strong team with Mavuika. However, replacing Chasca with a support that buffs Mavuika will lead to better results, making it difficult to really give chasca much of the credit for the team's performance. Unlike many other carries, however, Chasca actually is a solid option for a Mavuika team. Outside of Mavuika teams, Chasca is fairly solid but has very little flexibility in her teamsOn-Field Damage DealerN/A

Lan YanMetaHighHighYesLan Yan is arguably the best generic shielder in the game. However, as the character roster expands, more and more team-specific defensive characters get released, making generic shielders somewhat less valuable. Many recent characters have also gotten resistance to interruption as part of their base kit, lowering their reliance on shieldersDefensive UtilityDamage Buff
31
Yumemizuki MizukiSubparLowLowTaserYumemizuki Mizuki doesn't really do a significant amount of damage, or buff your teams all that much. The only thing she really has going for her to set her apart from other anemo units in taser teams is her healing, but that healing isn't potent enough to be great at enabling Fanfare generation on Furina. As such, just play Sucrose
32
BeidouViableMidLowQuicken, Taser, Chevreuse OverloadedReasonable damage output against 2-3 enemies, and a bit of defensive utility through damage reduction, resistance to interruption and a small shield. However, carries getting stronger and stronger with time reduces the value of off-field damage dealers that aren't keeping up with that increase in power, and Beidou's weak single target performance also makes her pretty underwhelming as a default option.C2 is very goodOff-Field DamageDefensive Utility
33
RaidenMetaHighHighHyperbloom, Overvape, Chevreuse OverloadedRaiden is still the best Hyperbloom trigger, since she has 100% uptime on an ability that can trigger Hyperbloom seeds every second, without relying on her burst, letting her focus her build only on EM, and not on ER. That being said, she doesn't provide much else to hyperbloom teams, meaning a dedicated hyperbloom trigger could take her place in the future in those teams, and Kuki can already take her place when you want to get healing. In teams that use her burst, her utility with decently high particle generations from skill, and energy restoration from burst, makes her still somewhat strong despite relatively low numbers, but not quite strong enough to compete with more recent carries. She can also be used as the off-field Electro for Pyro carries in chevreuse teams. Her damage will be lower than alternatives like Fischl, but her very high uptime can make up for it in terms of ease of use.Off-Field Damage (Hyperbloom)

LisaViableLowMidQuicken, NeuvilletteLisa's Defense Shred is a very rare debuff, meaning she can be used despite her low numbers in a few teams, especially ones that don't have access to many good buffs, like Neuvillette because of the lack of HP buffers, or Alhaitham because of the lack of buffers that work well in Spread teams. She's also a viable driver for Aggravate-focused Quicken teams. Her biggest drawback is potential energy issues, since her skill tap doesn't generate energy, and her skill hold has an incredibly slow animation, and is often not worth using.Damage BuffOff-Field Damage

YaeViable+MidMidQuicken, Taser, Chevreuse OverloadedThe recent shift in carries doing more and more personal damage has encouraged using supports that provide buffs rather than personal damage, and Yae, being a character that had pretty middle-of-the-road personal damage to begin with, has been shifted out of a lot of teams as a result. That being said, she's still a very viable option in many teams, whether you use her as a "carry" with fischl in Aggravate, Taser or Chevreuse teams, or you use her as a source of off-field electro with a bit of personal damage in Chevreuse teams or Spread teamsOff-Field DamageOff-Field Elemental Application

SethosViable+*LowLowQuicken, Chevreuse OverloadedSethos is arguably the character that rewards perfect execution the most in the entire game. Whereas many character have potential to be difficult to play well, most of them only end up less reliable in the hands of a worse player, meaning you can make of for that by resetting until you get a good run. In Sethos' case, the mechanical difficulty makes your performance directly correlated to your execution, meaning no amount of resets will make an average player clear as fast as a great one. OroronMeta-MidMidTaser, ChevreuseOroron being a Natlan character means that, at his worst, you can use him with Cinder City to be a small damage buff on a character with a bit of personal damage. IansanMetaHighHighAnyIansan at her best provides even more buffs than bennett does for attack-scaling carries. VaresaMetaMidMidChevereuse, HyperVaresa has very flexible rotations, which allow her to have good synergy with a lot of different units within her good archetypes, as she can shorten or extend her uptime to allow you to make good use of your buff uptime and cooldowns. XianglingMetaMidHighVape, Overvape, Melt, Mono-PyroVery good damage, and amazing performance, especially for a character given for free. Good enough to let you easily clear any content, meaning that her existence lets you focus on characters you like without being punished in the difficult content, because you can just temporarily use her instead of your favorite character to clear that content, and then put her back on the benchC1 is good, C3 is good, C4 is very goodMost teams : Off-Field Damage

Charged attacks before the final hit barely stagger, meaning he won't ungroup enemies while holding his charged attack. He won't get the flat DEF bonus from Gorou converted to ATK with his burst if you use it too soon after swapping into him. Play him in Korean. YunjinViableLowLowHyper (support)Overall pretty weak option. Decent buff to normal attacks, but most normal attack focused units would rather run different supports or be played in teams where they aren't the main source of damage. High ER requirements and single-hit skill, paired with her not wanting CRIT to increase her damage, means you'll have to sacrifice DEF, and in turn her damage buff, to get good energy and Favonius Lance consistencyC2, C3, C4 and C6 are fineDamage BuffBattery

NaviaMetaLowMidNaviaNavia's two charges on her E allows for her to use 3 Es on her first rotation instead of 2, effectively borrowing damage from the next rotation, and helping her frontload her damage a lot. XilonenMetaHighHighAnyXilonen's very versatile buffs and her healing allows her to be a very strong option for a lot of different teams.
