CommentsAdded naked Clownfish to the tank (from PetCo). Filter Changed with Walmart filterFilter Changed with Walmart filterSalt buildup on tank rimSalt buildup cleanedCloudy around top of tank. Powerhead off to let it settle.Appears to be dust or precipitate on water surface. Water change needed. Filter changed to Top Fin brand.Added second Ocellaris Clownfish to the tank (from PetCo). He's paired well with Gary.Salt water mix prepared. 10 gallons of water + 4 cups of saltchanged approx. 50% waterZoanthid and pocillopora and, nesarius snail added (bought from Suncoast Pets, PCB, FL). Emptied half the water from the specimen cups, added tank water, and floated the cups in the tank for half an hour. Corals opened after half hour in light. Missing store tank water parameters.Snail appears to have died. May not have acclimated correctly. He moved around for half a day, and then stopped.Blackout curtains added to the room for light control. Blew off the rocks with a baster, and vacuumed the sand. Got a lot of white, foggy stuff from the sand. Brown town still around; keeping the lights off.Rinsed filters in Di water, inserted 2 filter cartridges into the hang back filter. Topped off tank with Di waterTopped off tank with 1.025 SG Di water to raise salinity and stabilize pH temporarily. Fed corals. Outlet timer added for lights. Set on/ff in 6 hour increments.Tank was overfed over vacation. Blew off corals and sand with baster, allowed tank to settle before testing. Corals look bad, blew on them with water and turned on light long-term - no change. Fed corals and saw some change, the zoanthids opened some but the pocillapora hardly responded. Halting water changes to quickly cycle the tank through the diatom phase and allow nutrients to build backup for the corals amid the Diatom bloom.Added 15 ml of Stress Zyme and 15 ml of bacteria starter. Cleared the sand of algea by blowing on it with the baster and turning over the underside of the side, but it started to re-accumulate. Possibly Dinos reather than Diatoms.Brown algea grown seems to have slown down considerably. Do more resrearch into bacteria and algea competition. Get some copepods!Topped off with 1.025 SG distilled water. Accidently left the light on all night long, but the brown did not re-accumulate anywhere. The brown has stalled.Removed some water to scrub rocks with a toothbrush. Added Dr. Tim's bacteria, baby sexy shrimp, and a frag with coraline on it. Put the frag in the bag with the shrimp, placed bag in tank to acclimate. Added 10-15ml of tank water to the acclimation bag every 10-15 min for an hour. Added baby sexy shrimp with the lights off.Green-star Polyp aadded to tank. Cleaned tank walls with scrubber and cleaned heater and powerhead; rinsed hangback filter media. Added Vibrant for brown algae control, and added 1 mL of Red Sea algae management. Hoping to clear up the rest of the brown algae and stop the spread of the green hair algae with Vibrant, and encourage the corals to open up with lower nitrates. Need to bring Nirtrates below 5 ppm.Switch from Instant Ocean to Reef Pro salt. Dipped Green Star Polyp for red algae and brushed off algae. Corals are responding well to salt change, water change, and dip. Zoanthids have almost opened up completely, and the Green Star looks healthy after its dip and brushing. Water is crytal clear.Had to dilute the alkalinity by 5 mL distilled (tested at 0.0 dKH). Reding was 11.9 dKH after diluting. IT’S THE BAKING SODA. DO A WATER CHANGE, USE THE pH BUFFER TO RAISE pH.Changed the hangback filter from Topfin to Fluval, increased from appx 100-150 GPH to 200 GPH, with added sponge filter, carbon bag, and biobag. Monitor tank closely for Ammonia spikes. Get water from fish store for water change.Undetectable on all nitrifyersAdded Dr. Tim's, Vibrant, Iodide, an NO3:PO4-X.Nitrates have read 0.0 ppm the last three times. Green star polyp has retracted and wasn't out at all today. Added 1/8th tspn of reef roids. Test for Nitrates and scale back NO3:PO4-X. Remoted green hair algae by hand (hope I didn’t make it worse).Green star polyps still not coming out. Removed from tank and spotted some red algae again, and some ditritis. The center of the coral appears dead from where the red algae was last time and removed. Clipped off an isolated section infected with red algae, and performed a dip in a 10 mL/1 gal iodine:tank water. Rinsed in RO water for 2 minutes in a solo cup and then added fresh tank water to bring up the salinity in the cup.The Fluval hangback burned up after the power went out during the night and it lost prime, and burned up when the power turned back on with no water in the filter. Replaced with the original filter.Removed the unidentified-green star polyp and dipped the whole rock in a strong idoine solution for twenty minutes. Rinsed the entire rock in tank water and placed in the 75 gallon tank.
