|The Ghost of Christmas Present as a Prophetic Voice that Pricks Scrooge's Heart|
Sidebar: Fred doesn't value Christmas because it profits him, but because
If Fred is all about grace and love...GCP is all about truth and discipline...using Scrooge's own words against him.
|Matthew 7:1-2 NLT|
Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.
SFX #1: 53:55 – 54:30
I see a vacant place at this table. I see a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, the child will die. | No. Say he will be spared. | If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, none other of my species will find him here. But, if he is to die, let him die and decrease the surplus population.
SFX #2: 54:30 – 55:00
You use my own words against me. | Yes. So perhaps in the future, you will hold your tongue until you have discovered what the “surplus population” is and where it is. It may well be that, in the sight of heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man’s child.
SFX #3: 1:06:35 – 1:07:15
What are they? | They are your children. They are the children of all who walk the earth unseen. Their names are Ignorance and Want. Beware of them, for on their brow is written the word DOOM. They spell the downfall of you and all who deny their existence. | Have they no refuge? No resources? | Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons?
|mh||Fred Holywell: "Uncle Ebenezer, you're welcome to be one of us."|
Fred, the son of sister Fran, is the picture of Christian grace, tenderhearted mercy, and compassion.
|Matthew 9:10-13 (NASB) |
Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?” But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion, and not sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Luke 15:1-7 (NASB)
Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him. Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”
So He told them this parable, saying, “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
Zechariah 7:9-10 (NASB)
“Thus has the Lord of hosts said, ‘Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother; and do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.’

|PS Philip Comment on SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING | FCC 156||Hey guys, great job on my favorite Spider-Man movie! I thought this captured the things I like about the character most, especially that he had so much fun being a superhero rather than getting all angsty about it. Your thoughts on the Vulture are really interesting, and got me thinking about Proverbs 30:8-9(ESV)"Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?”or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God." |
That's some deep stuff to chew on, and really flies in the face of popular American thoughts on wealth and it's use as a gauge of God's favor in our lives.
Love the show guys! #muhweeladgimli
