Gregsee commentIf strategy worked out, whatever the two of them prefer; if not, future p1 (along with other Java issues). UPDATE: A potential Java guru, Mike Fowler, has shown up. It remains to be seen how it will play out, but maybe the Java issues can be assigned to him.

Greg2.x?p3? +substSigh, YAQB (Yet Another Quoting Bug). Steven, how's the subst/quoting revisions going? Is there an ETA? The other subst/quoting bugs are mostly 2.x p3; merge with them?

Steven2.x?p3? +substETA? how long has it been since I've provided an ETA that's even remotely useful? :-/ I agree about merging with other quoting issues

Garyp4it can be useful to use --tree while generating output, but indeed it seems really low pri to change this behavior.
75
GregOne really shouldn't be using --tree=* on a production run, so I'd make this low priority. Maybe the use of option should force --dry-run?

StevenForcing --dry-run seems too restrictive. I've used --tree on regular runs. It's easy enough to just add -n that i agree this seems low priority.

Garydup 1516I'm skeptical of parsing all the command outputs in general, though I'm fine w/ having a mechanism so users can do it. I agree w/ this being a dup of 1516 (with different emphasis)
