The microphone, which is connected via USB 3, regularly disconnects under load, causing crashes of sound recording programs and crackling on recordings. There is also a noticeable general system instability, momentary black screens at idle, sudden WHEA 18 errors and reboots. All of this is fixed by setting Global C-State Control to Disabled and Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle. There is also a cold boot issue, where the system won't boot after unplugging/turning off the PSU if XMP (DOCP) is activated (showing errors 55 or 0D on the Q-Code display). Once it's booted in safe mode though, DOCP can be reactivated and then the RAM works at the correct speed as it should without errors. Enabling or disabling DOCP doesn't seem to affect USB issues. UPDATE 15.02.2021: black screens are completely fixed after updating the NVIDIA GPU driver to 461.51. Seems unrelated to the USB/PCIe 4 issue. UPDATE 17.02.2021: I think I've managed to fix almost all of my issues by raising VDDCR SOC Voltage to 1.025 V (it was at 1.0 V by default). Now I can use my GPU in PCIe 4.0 mode without disabling Global C-States or setting Power Supply Control to Typical Current Idle. USB ports work correctly both at idle and under load. There are no more WHEA errors. The only remaining problem is cold boot failing with DOCP, we’ll have to wait for ASUS to fix this one I’m afraid.

The issue almost arises veery rarely, like maybe once or twice a week my mouse will stutter. However, when I enable the NVIDIA Broadcast Camera effect, the PC goes NUTS. Webcam will display fragments (gray areas / stuttering) when set to 720p@60Hz. Changing webcam settings in the Camera app will cause the mouse to stop working. When I ran Cinebench test, mouse and webcam are working fine for the duration of the test. They start to misbehave as soon the test is over. This is reproducible with stock BIOS settings or RAM overclock or with Precision Boost enabled. The mouse issue can be fixed by using USB-C adapter and connecting it to rear USB-C port on the motherboard. Disabling PCIe 4.0, changing voltages or disabling C-states did not solve the issue for me.

Running GPU at Gen3 speed with M.2 running at gen4 solves the issue. Issue present with both 3900X and 5950X, on two seperate VIII Formula and VIII Hero. Had 2600 runing with the same config but since it doesn't support PCIE gen4 the issue is not present.

Razer Blackwidow - Razer viper - Razer BlackShark V2 with usb soundcard		feels like random disconnections. I originally suspected some stuff, or interactions between programs, like Icue, Armoury crate, Razer Synapse or Genshin Impact anti-cheat system (which access kernel level) to disconnect them. Reboot fixes it until it happens again. I think I got the windows event related to it but it's very uninformative.

Don't notice issues with other USB devices (KB, Mouse, joystick, audio BT transmitter), but the PCI card for Wifi & Bluetooth connects to a USB2.0 header on MB. Bought new PCI card with similar USB 2.0 connection and have the same problem. All drivers, etc., upto date.

The Soundblasterx g6 and Yeti Nano are the worst where it starts crackling/popping and then eventually just cuts out entirely and requires you to un plug and re plug it back in. The keyboard and mouse just flickers on and off, only really noticable because of the RGB backlight which turns off for a split second as it happens.

Still very bummed about losing my SSD speeds.

Random lag spikes when using OBS and some games. When on bios F13a I was getting a lot of usb disconnects, so I went back to Bios F12 and that seemed to help, but still have random lag spikes on OBS and I notice the CPU likes to sleep in Ryzen master when I am trying to play a few games, so it causes stuttering sometimes even under overclock and I disabled all the states for sleep but the cpu still goes to sleep..
