Dmbins can bring American influencers over to boost mtb tourism whilst simultaneously allowing the biggest enduro event in the country to fold. But also greater support with access to land issues etc. Aberdeenshire is touted as the model for Scottish mountain biking yet the biggest issue for racing there seems to be access to some of the best managed trial systems in Scotland NoMore events across different regions, Better sponsorship and funding, Improved trail maintenance, Stronger grassroots riders development programs, More media exposure and promotion of the sport, Improved government and governing bodies supportFormats are great and what is currently provided is the best of the organisers capabiltiesNon existent at the current rate Whilst Scotland has managed to develop an amazing grass roots trail network and trail association scheme, racing and big events are the opportunity to raise funds and bring new people to areas to continue the development of these places. Racing provides the backbone to the sport and as a casual racer I find it invaluable as a training tool and motivator as I’m sure many do. Anything interrupting that is sure to cause a decline in the sport in general. Go to a World Cup or Tweedlove event and try to deny the impact that has on the local economy. There should be at least ten venues in Scotland capable of supporting that kind of event based on the availability and quality of the trails we have and the time, effort and money that goes into building and maintaining them

10/24/2024 18:06:325+ years3If there were quality events. It’s more about quality than quantity. Not like you’re doing last years. That’s too simplistic. Sone trail centres have good enduro some natural trails are not good for enduro. YesYou just mean standard enduro? Then yes SEs is list but there’s day night enduros and stuff like that. You do more than you did before. So it balances out. But it’s a different sort. Lack of sponsorship/commercial support, Increased competition from other sports, Reduced quality of offering less appealing. Yes, a declineYour events seem to be best suited to beginners but sometimes the trail and distance choices are too much. It’s a combination of things - I don’t want to race Tarland smoothness. But others don’t want to race Pitfichie tech. It makes your series s bit odd. It was better when SES was fir more experienced riders and your event focused on new riders. Depends what you mean - trail associations are really important. Community councils etc not so much. Depends on set up. The events help a bit. Bit you need everyone on board like Aberdeenshire. Others areas are behind. Often heard of event organisers annoying foresters, farmers etc. a big problem as we rely on their goodwill all year to keep riding. YesScottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Event Scotland, Sports Scotland, Visit Scotland, Forestry Land Scotland (FLS), British Cycling, Scottish Cycling, VisitScotland, Cycling UK, Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS), UK Trails Project, North East Adventure Tourism (NEAT), Scottish Land & Estates, International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA Europe)YesYesSeems like they already do a lot helping develop trails and working with riders. Your question implies something else? What has been asked for? Do we want to turn into road racing? YesLike your other questions this depends - look at Aberdeenshire building trails and working with race companies and investing in trail centres and pump tracks. Normal enduro racing. Can only see it excelling. So many new facilities and trail associations kids on bikes pump tracks and getting better on bikes. Your survey presents it very negatively which is confusing as you surely want to see collaboration to make it event better. I’m sure people reading this will be quite surprised.

Variety is the spice of life. People need a good way into racing and the level for beginners in the sport can be intimidating. The experienced racers want more technical trails so maybe separate trail centre syle and natural series's. It depends on the funding. Either very strong, or non existent National series funded well with some shorter easier races for beginners. More funding into the remaining series to keep them going. We have lost a lot of stand alone and series over the last 5-10 years, with few surviving. They've all been well run events and it produced some world class athletes. We need spend some money supporting these races entry fees are a massive barrier for entry. One of the races a few years.ago was £110 to enter (SES ft william) more accessible racing is needed to find the riders that have the potential to do well but don't have the finds to get there or pay the entry fee.
