UC APPPLICATION - ACTIVITIES & AWARDS SECTION
3
You'll have an opportunity to share with us how you have performend and challenged yourself inside the classroom (in the Academic History section), this section of the application is your opportunity to tell us about what you're most proud of outside the classroom. We're looking for quality, not quantity — which means that even though you'll have room to tell us about 20 activities and awards, make sure to focus on the ones that are most important to you. Choose experiences that demonstrate commitment, responsibility, leadership, and most of all, genuine interest.

PRO TIPS
7
*List all awards/honors and activities you have been awarded, have participated in between 9th and 12th grade (it's okay to list activities that you will be involved in 12th grade). Once you have a complete list you can review it critically and determine what awards/activities you can consolidate to maximize the 20 spaces allowed.

*Be reflective and consider all awards/activities , including those that may not be associated with your high school organizations.

*Don’t use acronyms for names of clubs or awards: Spell them out and explain your level of involvement. The more information you provide the better understanding we will have.

*Don’t list the same activity in multiple areas (for instance, listing Honors Society in “Awards and Honors” and “Extracurricular Activities”), but make sure the most important activities are reflected in some way.

*It is important for you to list any leadership roles, responsibilities and accomplishments in the activity rather than focusing on describing the activity itself.

*If you did not have the time/opportunity to participate in school and/or community activities, volunteer/paid employment, explain to application readers why – how else did you use your time and was it a choice or a requirement, for example: caring for siblings, elder-care, commitment to doing homework (research projects, papers, etc.). We understand that students are gaining valuable life experience and consider that as part of our comprehensive review.
