OtherThe policies with the largest negative impact on our programs are licensing requirements for staff background checks and staff qualifications. We are a seasonal mobile day camp and it is nearly impossible to meet some of these requirements with a 13 week operating season. SurviveNoNo
Yes; I don’t have an exact answer but we are operating FAR below our max capacity for school-age care because of the inability to meet the standard to staff 2 program lead-qualified staff per group (for a mobile day camp). In 2022 we cancelled $4.5 MILLION in programming because we couldn’t hire enough staff (let alone staff that had completed the BIU process and were program lead-qualified). This trend continued in 2023.

We would love to fund more financial aid for campers from underserved populations. We would also love to fund more programming to hire and train staff from underrepredented populations into company leadership. We started a program like this in 2023 (grant funded) and would love to continue in the future.

Playground improvements. Replace old floor coverings.
The inability to find quality staff is our biggest hurdle at the moment. We have a large facility and could expand if we had a way to find quality staff. The costs for Indeed are not worth what you get in return. Unemployment requirements for application, lead to many applicants who never show up for interviews.

The "no religious instruction" during UPK hours will cause us to drop that program. Our families should have the choice to attend a faith-based program without being excluded from the UPK opportunity.

Able to hire full-time staff, fix our roof, replace furnace units, and get a new stove for our kitchen. Building maintenance is our priority now. The building is old so there is always a problem. meeting continuous needs of ever changing state regs
I have been in the ECE business a long time. I feel the addition of more and more paperwork, regulations, etc., creates a loss of love for this profession. High quality child care is about positive supportive relationships with children, families, and educators. Continuous pressure from policy makers doesn't equate to high quality.

we had 58 W-2 in 2023. We usually have 20 FT staff at one time. So our staff has turned over almost three times in one year.
We would be okay.CCCAP funding amounts, FAMLI for families with infants delaying start, New sick leave definition, FAMLI for staff leave, Proposed UPK ratio changes, Property taxesI think all of the above as a combo is the most scary part of it. We could get hit on multiple fronts, without warning, and we just have to "take it" Ie last year we had 3 staff have babies, and none of them could take FAMILI, so far, we have zero prego in 2024, but we could face staff outages due to FAMILI without warning. There is nothing in FAMILI that addresses how we still staff the outages appropriately when they can come/go as they please.SurviveNo
my MIL is turning 65 this year, she is actively selling her program of 15 years to an outsider, bc she's done. I can't buy/operate another school, especially in this staffing crisis, so her lovely mom and pop school will soon be sold to a random "get rich quick" personality with no childcare experience. It's a dishearting end to such a long and wonderful career.

The school needs new windows. Our school is in Breckenridge where it is cold 8 months out of the year. Due to our windows being drafty we have an increased electricity bill and the classrooms get cold quickly. New windows would ensure the health and safety of children during the winter and cut spending.

809241N/AN/ANo4CCCAP funding amounts, OtherUPK has pulled children and families from our existing program to other centers and locations that accept UPK. We do not participate in any government programs such as CCCAP, UPK, Food Program, or even grants. However UPK has made parents and families question whether they should be paying for childcare. Neither CCCAP or UPK is close to the going rate of childcare. CCCAP and UPK should pay the childcare providers full rate and the family would cover the difference. This is very similar to the childcare assistance program through the military called childcare aware (CCA). This make more financial sense to a childcare provider. ThriveNoN/A

Environmental upkeep (e.g adding replenishing sand, maintenance for yard safety))
Larissa Sewald used to be our licensing specialist. She was wonderful, helpful, supportive and informative. Last year, our specialist was very helpful as well, but only filing in. We don't have a specialist assigned to us right now, but I have heard from other centers about inconsistencies (e.g. dings for things that other centers were not dinged for) and specialists seeming to be only looking for flaws anwywhere they can find them. This is disheartening and frustrating. We don't want to be out of line with requirements! AND we want support when we are. Much like the way we work with children, we don't want to feel like we're being punished.

We need more grants for beginning businesses and to help replace the items kids are so rough on. Increase the amount of sensory items and help with offering insurance to staff. Employers are required to pay 50% and that adds up. If we could get a grant to pay for it for at least a year we could afford it by adding to a fund during that year the grant would cover that cost.
