It takes 41 days to make one pair of glasses. 0.5-1 cm thick acetate plates are cut and then glued together using three different types of glue. The semi-finished product is left for 12 days under 300 kg presses and then placed in special ovens for 14 days, at different temperatures to prevent the formation of bubbles and eliminate critical points. At this point, the frames with their unrepeatable mix of colours are ready to undergo the traditional production method.
The creative and production process coming from human know-how is the brand’s strong point, where each Ultra Limited model looks more like a work of art than a simple pair of glasses. The slight variations in tone or any minor differences on the surface of the frames are the guarantee of a unique and unrepeatable product, which reflects all the charm and warmth of
andcrafted workmanship. Each frame is laser-etched with a progressive serial number to further guarantee its authenticity and uniqueness.

INSPIRATION
Our core design codes carry notes of extravagance and a forward-thinking approach, channeling the likes of pioneer design-provocateurs such as Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo and Vivienne Westwood.
Colours were chosen to reflect the sense of pop optimism the brand wishes to express, as well as its desire to go beyond the ‘classic colour offer’ of the rest of the green market.
The shapes in the offer purposefully seek to channel a subtle 90s nostalgia and are all inclusive of the ‘fluid’ design code of the brand.

NEW COLLECTION
The new JUNK collection is still heavily aimed to communicate that past year nostalgia that the first collection offered but in a rather more Y2K note. There is a conscious effort to elevate and expand the design codes to styles that wink-back to recognisable eyewear icons. GOOD’S, founded in 2020, was born in Naples, century-old cradle of the European culture, where history, art and craftsmanship are combined in streets, quarters and architecture.
Founded by Piero Buono: a sound experience in the world of eyewear and a family present since three generation. Besides him, the founders of the brand are Walter William Engle, young soul of the company, new graduate in business economics, in charge for the digital development of the brand and Architect Francesco Maria Stazio, Creative Director.
The idea was to create an everyday accessory that more than any other expresses the personality, attitude and style of the person wearing it.
The research for the soul of things, “Anima”, is the essence of the brand, visible in the temple, where decorative details of three of Naples’ most famous churches are depicted. This is how structural and ornamental elements of the frame become the defining charactetistic. Good’s dedicates its first collection, the Architecture Collection, the fine design conjugates daily use and eternal beauty, turning art-works such as the diamond-tipped ashlar of Gesù Nuovo, the gibbs surrounds of San Gregorio Armeno and the fluted pilasters of San Martino into sophisticated details.
All Good’s frames are in limited series, numbered from 1 to 90, produces a rare handwork, entirely made in Italy, outcome of the purest craftsmanship.
Good’s dedicates a great attention to the use of materials that are produced in environmentally friendly materials.
Frames are exclusively produced in Mazzucchelli bio-acetate, 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable, without chemical agglomerates, recognizable by the M49 acronym.
For the cases, made by the historical firm Gatto Astucci, we only apply processing technologies and materials compliant to the stricter international standards as far as ethics, safety, and health protection, consistent with the company’s eco-friendly vision.

My life is colour and image and my style is strong, designed to amaze. I’m Lara D’Alpaos and in 2010, I created the Italian eyewear brand Lara D’.
I earned a degree in architecture from IUAV in Venice, with a specialisation in interior design. Imagining, designing, constructing is what I have always loved to do. I am inspired by art, fashion, and design. This is why my glasses are paintings and sculptures, they are abstract and concrete, they are industry and craftsmanship.
The world of eyewear made a powerful impression on me when I was very young. I have followed the daily activities of the family business since I was a child, as if it were a compelling story. I learned a lot watching my father in his work as an entrepreneur. Right here, in the heart of the Italian eyewear district at the foot of the Dolomites, I processed and made the sounds and noises, movements and words of his workshop my own.
In my summers as a child, I spent time touching each material, reviewing all the production stages and working alongside the artisans in their meticulous work. Day after day, I learned the true meaning of the word artisan with a training experience that made such a strong impact that it guided every choice I made, even in my studies.

THE HISTORY OF THE BRAND

The Lara D’ brand is my personal workshop of ideas. Within it, I design eyewear that embodies my vision of well-made products, with an experimental approach in terms of colours and materials, and with constant research into relevant new techniques.
For production I rely on the experience and skills of specialised Italian artisans, who make my creations special with great care and precision.
Lara D’ frames express a whimsical character and stand out without ever being too extravagant. I like to call them sporty chic, with the idea of representing a casual but sophisticated look, without labels but glamorous. My eyewear is dedicated to men and women who want to stand out and feel good, from morning to evening, on any occasion, without having to sacrifice comfort and a perfect fit.

In January 2020, the new highly refined Light_MIRROR collection was presented. The electronic lens Irid is able to perceive the ambient light and instantly adapt to it by getting darker and lighter to always provide the user with the best light filter.
This, in less than a second and without using any battery, therefore avoiding the annoying lag that characterizes the normal photochromic lenses now available on the market.
Within the lens it’s incorporated a small solar cell that powers a microchip and a special liquid crystal film.
The microchip constantly works to adapt the lens’ tint between category S1 and S3.
What does this all mean?
Let’s say you’re riding your bike and it’s a beautiful sunny day, the lens understands that the luminosity is high and adjusts its tint accordingly.
Even a pair of normal sunglasses would work well in this situation.
Then, you suddenly pass through a tunnel, now a normal lens will keep on staying dark so for a while you won’t see a thing, but the Irid lens understands that the luminosity has changed, and immediately gets lighter, allowing you to see well without any hassle right from the very first meters.
Both the liquid crystal film and the electronics are perfectly waterproof so they are ready to withstand any
weather conditions. The only energy source the lens needs is the sun.
There are no batteries, of any kind, so the sunglasses are eco-friendly and can be used like a regular pair:
there’s no setup, they never have to be charged and they will never run out of power.
