I. Introduction
6
Greetings Quiz Players! Hopefully this key will satisfy any curiosity and explain decisions we've made for what to include in the quiz, and how it is organized.
7
8
The quiz covers at least through the primary 16 Episodes of Season 10
9
Key new characters and/or relationships *MAY* be added after Bonus Episodes and through Season 11 after it airs
10
11
The quiz is based solely on the TV Series "The Walking Dead", not the comic books --- although there certainly is substantial overlap
12
Note: It also does not include characters from "Fear the Walking Dead" except some which might overlap that series.
13
- Therefore characters not in the comics will appear, names may be different, deaths and causes may be altered, etc.
14
The Color-coding, Groupings, Outlines, and Icons are merely a device to provide other avenues for deducing answers apart from just the Symbol Letters
15
- Relationships, Positions, and Titles represented by colors or symbols which occur, or are mentioned in the TV Show, may be PAST or PRESENT
16
- The sheer volume of shifting groupings and locations in the show is impossible to reflect, hence initial primary affiliations are used for solid background colors
17
- Character positions in the grid reflect key groupings, locations and/or relationships
18
- It is impossible to highlight all of them, and furthermore, each new relationship highlighted, or uncovered in the series, would require yet another "re-positioning" of multiple characters in the grid
19
- Also there are many TWD characters who "fit" certain scheme criteria, but are not being used in this quiz due to size and structure limitations
20
Criteria for inclusion in the quiz:
21
- Clearly-named Characters who had substantial roles (past or present), or are key figures (or are associated with them) in the TWD universe
22
- Also, some who appeared in notable scenes (e.g., Dave who Rick shot in the bar near the Greene farm), even if just in one episode
23
- In such cases, a point was made to ensure that such characters' names are "common" and also likely to be deducible (i.e. "guessed") as well, from the letters or sound of their Symbol
24
Since the quiz is based on the TV show where watchers can usually only HEAR the names of characters, reasonable alternate phonetic spellings ARE ACCEPTED
25
- This means that during the typing in of names, a few may be accepted before the "official" spellings would be completed (e.g., GlenN, etc.)
26
- Also the initial part of a longer name, if that portion was also in itself used as a nickname (e.g., "Ben" portion of "Benjamin")

II. Specific Schemes Used in Quiz
43
A) Background Colors & Gradients
44
Cells may have a solid color or a gradient of two color shades
45
- Solid Background Colors represent either of the following: Original group that a character was affiliated with (if any), or their initial or primary location
46
[e.g., "Magna's Group", "The Atlanta Camp", "Woodbury", etc]
47
- They do NOT cover ALL such relationships or affiliations!
48
- Those who were on their own / loners / isolated have their own unique Color
49
[e.g., Michonne who was on her own until Andrea joined her and then she was integrated into Rick's Group
50
Gracie was found by Rick at an isolated Outpost, then later adopted by Aaron at Alexandria]
51
- Two-toned Background Colors reflect:
52
- Characters who BOTH shifted to/from consistent antagonist or protagonist activity AND location
53
[e.g., Laura was a Savior (antagonist) and located at the Sanctuary. After the defeat to the militia, she became an ally (protagonist) and lived at Alexandria
54
Morales was part of the Atlanta Camp (protagonist) but left and later joined the Saviors (antagonist), stationed at an outpost]
55
- Characters who were removed from their initial protagonist affiliation, and lived with and made to, or (ambiguously) worked for Antagonists on a long-term basis
56
[e.g., Harlan - taken from the Hilltop and made to act as Sanctuary doctor; Eugene who ambiguously joined the Saviors, eventually turning the tables on them]

CHARACTER SYMBOLS
94
The central large bold-text "Character Symbol" always represents 1 or 2 letters of a character's name, as follows:
95
- It may be a first name, surname, or where asterisked: a nickname or title
96
- The First Letter of that name/word is always the first letter of the Symbol used
97
- All Correct Answers must be entered so as to match the exact Name/Word which the Symbol specifically represents
98
This is required for several reasons, but most significantly to avoid having several shared names "pop up" as alternate answers for any given single entry (eg, "Grimes", "Chambler", etc)
