Job Description

The Twitter Engineering Apprenticeship Program is an opportunity for folks from a variety of backgrounds such as coding bootcamps, self-taught coders, veterans, caregivers returning to the workforce, those making a career switch, etc. Our Apprenticeship Program is a one-year program with full-time employment. Upon completion of the program, Apprentices graduate and embed fully into a Twitter team.

* Collaborate with smart, supportive peers to build compelling user experiences that impact millions of people coming to Twitter every single day.
* Work closely with Twitter engineers to tackle technical challenges with engineering at scale.
* Learn and grow through programs hosted by Twitter University as well as informally with sister teams, local leaders, and remote collaborators

Apprentice Hiring Process

* Qualified applicants will receive an invitation to participate in a HackerRank challenge
* If your background and HackerRank score are a match,1:1 call with a member of the hiring team
* The final round of interviews includes two technical interviews and one interview with the manager or a leader at Twitter

Timeline

* Applications will open on October 9th and close on October 16th, 2020
* All applicants will receive a decision on their candidacy by November 30th

Qualifications

* You are one of the following: A graduate of coding boot camp, self-taught coder, a veteran returning to the workforce, caregivers returning to the workforce, and those making a career switch
* You are proficient in at least one programming language
* You are self-motivated and are looking to continue to learn what it's like to work and excel at engineering at Twitter
* You have at least two years of work experience (does not need to be technical)
* Interested in working on iOS, Android, Web technologies, or backend systems.
* You are available to start during apprentice onboarding in January 2021

What You’ll Do

* Collaborate with a small, autonomous team of developers, designers, and product owners to find end-to-end solutions to important problems
* Implement these solutions for our Android client, adhering to Android development best practices
* Help your team solve problems in a way that makes sense for Android users and our codebase
* Join dozens of other developers and help to shape the direction of Android development at Spotify

Who You Are

* You have a deep understanding of modern Android development
* You know how to write readable, maintainable, performant object-oriented Java
* You are experienced with Android development tools
* You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high quality code
* You have a high level understanding of end to end systems
* You have released at least one app or have a project in the works that you can tell us about
* You have at least 3-4 years of professional experience
