In Vision FLT test 30 & 31, I got 77 and 75 respectively and that has really drained me. But I feel it was tough for me. Was it similar to the pattern of question UPSC asks ? ~ AureliusM Honestly, I don't think you should let two tests drain you at this point of time. I personally find Vision FLTs to be slightly tougher than the other coachings' tests. People usually say Vision comes closest to real paper pattern but it is definitely more difficult than actual prelims ~ MaeveHey thanks for the reply! I am trying not to. Let's see how it goes.

How do you guys revise the tests? Are you revising all the tests that you have attempted? I can't seem to decide between attempting new tests and revising older ones ~ MaeveI had made subject wise notes after every test. Not revised yet, but will do after 15th. ~ Duke

I found it moderate, although only marks will tell. I think there were some ques which were meant to be left like coupland etc ~Harvey

Vision is fed up of asking Muddiman, Strachey, Lee etc.. So started asking some more obscure names - Coupland ~exman visionias has run out of questions!! modern ke pyq ka pattern dekhe toh esa ques 5 saal me ik baar aya hoga(similar thing in sectional tests)...one thing more...one word ques have increased in almost every test series(copying denisovan{upsc19} type pattern)-extinctinwild

How does vision give scores with decimals like XX.56, XX.18 etc ? Ideally only XX.33 or XX.67 are possible.Harvey- They give slightly higher marks to the one who has more correct answers to differentiate ranks. I dont think it happens in actual UPSC so no need to worry they give marks for each question and then sum it up instead of final calculation on all right and wrong. Here is a problem because division by 3 gives a repeating decimal value like .3333 and .66666 -Bornemud
both forum and vision calculate marks till two significant digits. hence they use 0.67 as the penalty for wrong answers. ~lola

I thought if the cutoff among so fewer takers is so high then what would happen if 1000s attempt. Probably that is why it is high - fewer takers. Anyways .. I will leave this cutoff thing for now. -exmanThey had decided cutoff on the basis of toughness and not on the basis of attempt by people..So relax bruh!

Bhailog .... If u have attempted simulators 1-8 please fill the marks. My scores have not been upto my expectations and cut-off given in the thread is somewhat high IMO . - exmanI still don't know on what basis they derived the cutoff. Sometimes clearly tougher tests have been given a higher cutoff. - AJ_

Yes.. I agree.. This year Vision Test are tougher than last year. I realized this when I was giving sectional mocks. Also elimination based on keywords doesn't work in Vision tests. This frustrates me. ~ exman

How much preparation is being done by you people for mains and optional?@harvey, lola, duke, noone, bornemud etcHarvey- wrote 3-4 essays and completed some portion of ethics.Neither having my written notes of optional with me nor books. So I can only do limited stuff.

Completed notes of some static portion of GS 1,2,3 and answer writing of ethics, essay and my optional. Prelims preparation was on backstage during this 1 month completely.

Made short notes for the optional, writing a few previous year questions daily. Completed ethics syllabus and have done some answer writing for it. A bit of note making for essays. Haven't done much with respect to GS 1, 2, 3. NooneHey noone, wants to do some question practice together on paper 2?A couple of questions (preferably previous year) daily would be fine with me, at least for the next 2 weeks. We can discuss and share on Telegram. Don't want a big group since it mostly becomes a platform for bakar.

Bornemud- I have written mains GS1-4 for 2019 and 2018. Checking them with vision video discussion and Drishti model solutions. I am writing full 3 hours paper on a stretch. Optional, i haven't revised, if there is further extension on the prelims date, i will start optional. Essay, I am writing for various competitions online especially related to COVID. During break time, I listen to Vinay Lal's lecture on Gandhi's Morals and Philosophy, it is a good break as well as insightful with fodder for answer writing and essay.

People scoring consistently high in environment sectionals, guys, what is your strategy? I have done shankar and revised it twice and gave environment sectional. Couldnt score above 90. Any specific strategy? Or do I need to keep on revising and pray that my environment gets stronger? Thanks!You have to see the section where you are making mistakes like - ecology and biodiversity or acts, policies and conventions. Then study that part again from Shankar. Shankar contains too many unnecesary stuffs too. So it is advisable that you focus on the important parts only. ~exmanThanks Exman! You showed me where I was lacking. Helped a lot! :)

I have not solved any full lenghts. Solved enough sectionals and enough mcq practice through sfg, but not revised mcqs. Doing pyq and revising static and current deligently. Is this a wrong move? Can I clear pre without FLT?Yeah definitely! FLTs are just to make you learn about elimination methods and your strong areas. If you can do it through PYQs, that would be enough I guess.
