FS Structural Equivalency Spreadsheet Guide
2
3
The SES template has been created to simplify the process of proving structural equivalency.
4
5
Please enter your values in the yellow cells and paste all the images in the specific tabs which shows your entered values.
6
7
All dimensions and units must follow the European SI System!
8
9
The final decision about all designs will be made at technical inspection. Approval of an SES does not guarantee passing Tech. Inspection!
10
11
As downloaded the spreadsheet assumes a baseline steel chassis design. The majority of the cells in the spreadsheet are locked, you can only edit the cells shaded yellow.
12
Cells shaded grey are dependant on the data entered in yellow cells, the formulae in these grey cells have been left visible so you can see how the results are calculated.
13
The vast majority of the tabs can be accessed using the hyperlinks on the cover sheet. If you enable macros when opening the document "Ctrl+e" will return you to the cover sheet.
14
The SES has been extensively tested, but if you think you have found a mistake in the document or have any questions on how to use the template please submit a question in the usual manner.
15
Please read the guidance notes located at the end of the workbook.
16
17
If you find a new problem with the SES template or require a clarification 72 hours or less before the SES submission deadline please include your own
18
proof of equivalency in the "Additional Info" tab as well as filing a Rules question.
19
20
Teams are not permitted to rename the name of the TAB or to delete any TAB

Revisions:
23
V1.0
First release for 2025 rules
24
- All TAB's that included TSAC specific data removed from SES and moved into seperate document ASES
25
- TAB A2.2 Signficant Changes now requires information on chassis type (first year vehicle or re-used chassis under A2.2.3 exemption)
26
- TAB T3.5.9 Shear Tests: skin thicknesses directly refer to base laminate and includes own logic of calculation of perimeter shear strength. (Implementation of T3.5.10)
27
- TAB Other 1 Matt'l Shear: no change - old 'own' input still required. So, if teams wants to deviate from used logic in TAB T3.5.9 Shear Tests, use this Tab.
28
- TAB MaterialData: T3.2.4 update incorporated, resulting in minor changes to TABs T3.8 Main Hoop Tubing & T3.9 Front Hoop Tubing
29
- TAB T3.5 Laminate Test: rig compliance minimum value required to be 85% (previously 75%), rig compliance as stand-alone requirement to pass testing for SES
30
- TAB T3.5 Laminate Test: rig compliance relation to gradient calculation removed
31
- Applied T3.4.1: 'only ... if the flat panel EI equivalency exceeds 60% of the minimum requirements' incorporated in cell format and warning message
32
- New TAB T3.15.7 for physical testing of blind inserts
33
- TAB T3.5 Laminate Test, T3.5 FBHS, T3.5 FBH: incorporated failure message for T3.5.3
34
- Updated T3.4.4 failure message for all laminate testing Tabs
35
- TAB T4.5 Harness Attachments: data format (unit) and pass criteria issue resolved
36
- TAB EV5.5.8 TSAC Attachments: updated, to comply with T9.3.1 & EV5.5.8, EV5.5.11, EV5.5.13
37
- References to Rules updated
38
V1.1
- A2.2 Significant Changes renamed to A2.2 First year vehicle, updated call for information in sheet
39
- TAB's T3.5 FBHS - Different Layups: rig compliance minimum value set (85%) and rig compliance relation to gradient calculation removed, in consistency with T3.5 Laminate Test
40
- TAB T3.5 FBHS / FBH: fixed formatting issue with core thickness (cell turns red with core thickness inconsistency, warning is displayed)
41
- TAB T3.5.9 Shear Tests: correction reference skin thicknesses, changed editeable cells, default still linked to laminate sheet
42
- Guidance Notes: fixed 2 links
