13:15Paul DuchesneWorking with Linked Open Data can seem intimidating given the range of languages and tools available. This practical workshop seeks to allow participants to work with key concepts quickly and easily, using Wikidata identifiers as a means of linking data, the basics of the SPARQL querying language, plotting analytics queries in Google Colab and federating with other open data sources.WorkshopOnsite

In this workshop, participants will come together to discuss pathways to providing sustainable long-term access to 360° video. 360° video is a video format in which every direction of view is recorded and made viewable during playback. It is both a target medium for immersive media and a means to document its more vulnerable forms (e.g. real-time 3D VR). 360° video itself is also vulnerable however, with a diverse array of video and projection formats in use, and a requirement for specialised playback tools. Many parts of this toolchain remain proprietary software and lack meaningful interoperability. There has been work towards technical standardisation through a number of initiatives but increased awareness and open-source frameworks are needed if we are to ensure long-term access outside of commercial platforms. The workshop will include an overview of 360° video as a medium entering cultural heritage collections and of relevant formats, tools and standards, and serve as a kick-off meeting for a project to develop a 360° video extension to the decentralised, open-source video streaming platform PeerTube. Building on the Preserving Immersive Media Knowledge Base, workshop participants will discuss currently available 360° video formats and tools, and how these might shape requirements for the PeerTube plugin. We aim to draft an implementation roadmap and form a stakeholder group with the goal of stewarding the implementation process.

We welcome both experts who wish to contribute and beginners who wish to learn!
