The Incoming U9 Evaluation Form and Process
2
Please work with your assistant coaches to fill out this evaluation summary sheet for your team and turn it in by MAY 25, 2010. Submit information about each player on your current 2nd grade team keeping in mind that equally balanced teams are the goal at U9 since the teams play each other. Thus, this information will be used as a foundation to help create balanced teams during the draft team formation process.
3
STEP 1. ENTER ALL PLAYERS FROM YOUR FALL AND SPRING TEAM ROSTERS. Last name, First name. When the head coach sends back the form, the assistant coaches must be copied on the email to ensure that they have been involved with the player ratings to avoid bias. The PPC may elect to follow up directly with an assistant coach on the team.
4
STEP 2. ENTER A RATING from 1 - 6 that best describes a player's overall soccer ability. Think of the entire range of soccer skill that you saw over the course of the season on your team as well as on other teams you played. Be as realistic as possible.
5
1 = shows well above average soccer ability
6
2 = shows above average soccer ability
7
3 = shows average soccer ability
8
4 = shows some soccer ability
9
5 = shows limited soccer ability
10
6 = rarely touches the ball or is engaged in the game
11
STEP 3. EVALUATE COMMITMENT TO SOCCER - Soccer players develop skill through increasing their time and touches with the ball and simply playing as a team. Thus, attendance is critical. This will be used as a factor in team formation, but does not add into the player's rating from above.
12
Select Based on Attendance AllMade virtually all games.
13
MostMade at least 80% of games.
14
SomeMissed more than 20% of games (for non-soccer-related reasons).
15
STEP 4. PROVIDE COMMENTS. Please comment about issues relative to player contribution and performance such as attitude, coachability, and other relative soccer commentary, etc.
16
STEP 5. Email this completed spreadsheet by MAY 25, 2010 to U9coordinator@westwoodsoccer.org. Be sure to copy your assistant coaches.
