Instructions
15
1. Watch a video walkthrough on how to use this template
Going to be using Surveys?
16
2. Make a copy of this template
Use "Roll-up" demographics to maintain employee confidentiality while still having access to broader data. In these examples:
17
- File > Download > Excel - OR - File > Make a copy for Google Sheets
*Division was added because we might have less than 5 employees in some Departments.
18
- Use this Instructions tab to learn about the data columns and formatting, use the next Data Template tab for your employees' information
*Region was added because we might have less than 5 employees in some Locations.
19
3. Include required demographics
*BIPOC was added because we might have less than 5 employees in some Race/Ethnicity groups.
20
- Name is required; recommended format is First Last
(If BIPOC is not a familiar term in your company, you could alternatively use Person of Color or POC )
21
- Employee Id or Email is required. You can include one or both. This creates a unique user in Culture Amp
22
3. Choose from the recommended minimum demographics in Columns E-K to unlock functionality in Culture Amp
23
- Required for People Analytics: Start Date and End Date (leave End Date empty for current employees)
24
- Required for Perform and 1-on-1s: Manager Email
25
- Manager Email helps build your organizational hierarchy; leave field empty for the head of your company (CEO/Owner)
26
- Required for SMS Pilot Customers Only: BothTimezone and Mobile Phone Number
27
- Hover over the column headers to see additional data guidelines!
28
4. Choose your custom demographics, examples are shown in columns L - X. These will be used for insights across Culture Amp, and for reporting in surveys.
29
- Remove any of our examples that do not apply to your company, or for which there is no available data
30
- Add any custom demographics you would like to utilize by inserting a new column
31
- If you have small groups (typically 5 or less) you can add a roll-up demographic to increase your visibility in reporting
32
5. If uploading the Employee Data File directly into Culture Amp:
33
- Before attempting any import, DELETE this Instructions tab
34
- Use FULL Import to add employee data to your account for the first time, or to establish your hierarchy
35
- Use PARTIAL Import to edit employee data already in your account, e.g. add/remove employees or update some demographics
36
Important formatting notes:
37
- All fields and demographic values are case sensitive - Product and product would become two seperate Demographics in your account.
38
- Dates must be formatted as: mmm dd, yyyy, MMM DD YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD. Need help with your date format?
39
- SMS Pilot Customers Only: For timezone, we only accept IANA timezone names. A list can be found here: IANA Timezones. Example: New York is 'America/New_York'.
40
- SMS Pilot Customers Only: For mobile phone numbers, we use E.164 format: [+][country code][subscriber number with area code], up to 15 digits. For more details, visit E.164 format doc. Example: US number is +14155552671
41
- Your file must be saved as .XLSX or .CSV to import successfully
42
- For languages other than English, use language codes
43
- For HRIS, learn how to sync your employee data with Culture Amp
44
Perform and 1-on-1 customers
45
- Configure your hierarchy
46
Do all your employees have a work email?
47
- If not, activate "kiosk mode" before running a survey
48
Are you using this import for People Analytics?
49
- Learn more about Retention Insights
50
- All employees must have an Employee Id
51
