10/10/2017 22:15:00Interpersonal ProcessAmelia Canally, LCSW, CGPadults who are curious about how they relate.closed- Jan 201850/weekWednesday, 12pmBee Caves
I've never met a client who eagerly skipped into group-most people are scared beyond belief thinking about joining a group! Rest assured, this is normal. My therapy groups are a mix of adult men and women who’ve had previous experience with therapy and would like to deepen their understanding of how they relate to others. This type of group is not a support group. Although family of origin and current relationship issues may be shared, the primary focus is on the “here and now” of the group experience. It can feel awkward or different to interact this way, but it is in new experiences that we can make lasting changes to our old scripts and past stories

Dynamic Practice, is a new consultation group for therapists who want to explore, develop and sustain their role as a group leader. Ideal members are interested in or currently lead group in either agency or private practice settings. With the spirit of togetherness and camaraderie, Dynamic Practice will provide a space for clinicians to navigate the challenges, misses and successes (that are inevitable with solid group work!) so that we can show up as our best selves for our groups. Vulnerability and humor is a must :) Individual and couples cases are welcome too, but the main focus will be on group work.

More details and apply at www.WombLoss.com

The Womb Loss group is a therapy and support group for women experiencing loss from infertility, miscarriage or abortion. Because these types of losses are unseen (and sometimes even intentionally kept secret) they can be some of the most painful and difficult type of loss for a woman to bear.

There are two Womb Loss groups to choose from: one dedicated to women experiencing loss from infertility and miscarriage and a second group dedicated to women experiencing loss from abortion. (Please specify on your application which group you are applying for).

Because a woman's "wombspace" holds all the memories, traumas and experiences of her life, losses associated with this part of her body can impact her deeply, affecting all areas of her life and impeding functioning in her relationships, work and personal life, leading to feelings of:

Shame and guilt
Grief, loss, and depression
Confusion and meaninglessness
Frustration, anger and resentment
Blame and helplessness

During each class women will have an opportunity to connect with and be supported by other women who can relate to their loss and pain, and where they will be able to process their thoughts and feelings in a safe and sacred space with an experienced mental health professional.

Participants will be guided through individual and group processes to aid in resolving grief, resolving shame, guilt and blame, and restoring hope as they reconnect with and heal their relationship with the feminine "root" or "wombspace".

During the Womb Loss course, participants will experience a variety of techniques for a holistic approach to their personal healing process. In addition to traditional talk therapy methods, mindfulness, yoga and guided visualization, art and movement will be incorporated in to the group process to help you release what no longer serves you, resolve emotional pain, and find power, strength and meaning from your personal experience of loss.

The Womb Loss groups are taught as a series of four consecutive segments. Each segment lasts 10 weeks. Participants may choose to attend just one, a couple, or all four 10 week segments.

~Havel a safe place to process your emotions and express your thoughts

Education and exploration:
~Increasing your knowledge related to the prevalence of sexual crimes, the ways it affects the body, mind and nervous system, and the common reactions and ways of coping, helps you understand your personal narrative and provides hope

There are more services and supports available today than ever for people who are undergoing gender transition. This transformation doesn’t happen in a vacuum; while individuals who transition are counseled through these challenges, their partners, wives and husbands find themselves faced with challenges of their own. Who am I becoming? How is my sexuality changing? How is my partner’s transition affecting our relationship? Our family? Our future?

This group forms on the heels of the Contemporary Relationships Conference, where we found a gap in the services afforded the partners of people undergoing gender transition. This group will address the hiccups in identity, the moments that may jar you from your known place in the world, and challenge the beliefs others seem to hold about your lives.
